Advance Accessibility. Champion Equity. Lead Compliance.
The City of Birmingham is seeking an ADA Compliance Administrator who combines a passion for equitable access with the expertise to turn complex regulatory requirements into meaningful action. This is an opportunity to remove barriers, strengthen accountability, and help ensure people with disabilities can fully participate in City programs, services, and activities.
Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer within the Capital Projects Management Team, this position leads the City’s ADA Title II compliance and accessibility program and coordinates Title I employee accommodation matters with Human Resources. The Administrator develops and implements policies and procedures, evaluates accessibility, addresses requests and complaints, supervises assigned staff, and works across departments to identify deficiencies and drive corrective action.
Success in this role requires strong knowledge of Title II, experience and working knowledge of Title I, and the ability to interpret and apply applicable federal and state statutes, regulations, accessibility standards, and guidance. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to consistent, well-documented compliance practices.
We are seeking a professional who can:
Lead compliance with purpose: Evaluate City policies, programs, services, and facilities; identify barriers and compliance gaps; and coordinate practical solutions.
Translate regulations into action: Provide clear guidance that helps departments understand their responsibilities and implement accessibility requirements.
Train and build accountability: Develop and deliver engaging training that equips employees and leaders to support accessibility and sustain compliance.
Manage data with precision: Maintain accurate records, track requests and complaints, monitor corrective actions, analyze trends, and prepare reports that inform decisions and demonstrate progress.
Build productive partnerships: Collaborate with City departments, Human Resources, project teams, and community stakeholders to resolve concerns and advance equitable access.
Bring your passion for accessibility and your compliance expertise to make it happen. Help Birmingham build a more accessible, equitable, and accountable city.
