We are looking for an experienced and motivated Adaptations Team Leader to lead the delivery of adaptation and renewal services across the county. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to people's lives by helping residents remain independent, avoid unnecessary moves, and continue living in the communities they call home.
As Adaptations Team Leader, you will lead a dedicated team responsible for delivering housing adaptations and Disabled Facilities Grants, working closely with Occupational Therapists, contractors, Registered Social Landlords, Welsh Government and a range of partner organisations.
About the Role
Reporting to the Rapid Rehousing and Adaptation Manager, you will provide operational leadership for the Adaptations Team and play a key role in shaping and developing adaptation services across Conwy.
You will:
- Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the Council's Adaptation and Renewal Policies.
- Manage, support and develop a team of staff, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the delivery of adaptation projects from assessment through to completion, ensuring high standards of quality and customer service.
- Manage adaptation budgets and ensure value for money in service delivery.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and health and safety requirements.
- Prepare technical and financial reports and contribute to service planning and development.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external partners to improve outcomes for residents.
About You
We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills, technical knowledge and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of local residents.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- A degree relevant to the role, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience working in design, construction, surveying, housing adaptations or a related field.
- Experience of managing and motivating a team.
- Knowledge of construction processes, building standards, housing legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Strong project management, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of managing budgets and monitoring performance.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A commitment to delivering excellent customer-focused services.
A project management qualification and experience of securing external funding would be advantageous. Welsh language skills are desirable.
Why Join Conwy?
This is an opportunity to lead a service that has a direct and lasting impact on people's wellbeing and independence.
In return, we offer:
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
- Generous annual leave entitlement.
- Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
