Additional Needs Support Tutor

Job description

18.5 hours per week

We are seeking an Additional Needs Support Tutor to join our team. In this role, you will provide support to students with additional needs across a range of full- and part-time courses throughout the college. The ideal candidate will be innovative, organised, dependable, and have excellent communication skills.

You will ideally have experience teaching or supporting students with learning disabilities or difficulties within a further education environment. You will be skilled in assessing, implementing, and monitoring additional support strategies, completing exam access arrangements, advising on progression to further assessment, and delivering one-to-one support outside of class for post-16 students.

A key part of the role involves supporting the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and writing individual support plans to identify effective strategies for student success within the college environment.

You will be qualified to degree level in a relevant subject (or equivalent), have recent experience working with students with additional needs in a further education setting, and hold or be willing to work towards a Level 5 teaching qualification.

The College is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse community and welcomes applications from individuals across all sectors. We aim to reflect the diversity of our student population in our staff profile, ensuring that we provide the best possible experience and environment for our learners. Our goal is to continue to develop a vibrant, supportive, and inclusive workplace where all staff can thrive.

Please note if you are selected for the next stage in the process, you will be required to attend the College’s premises, unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Solihull College & University Centre is committed to ensuring a safe environment for all students and expects all staff to engage fully with this commitment.
