Adjunct Faculty - Biology

Vanguard University POSITION SUMMARY: The Department of Biology seeks applications for adjunct instructors for one or more of the following courses:

• Fundamentals of Biology laboratory
• Principles of Cell and Molecular Biology laboratory

Vanguard seeks professionals of Christian faith who are committed to integration of faith and learning in their respective fields. The applicants must have demonstrated teaching ability and a commitment to working with students of color and encouraging diversity.

Essential Functions

• Teach the above-mentioned coursework in biology.
• Transfer knowledge including theory, practical skills, methods and techniques in his/her related field.
• Challenge thinking, foster debate and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and thinking regarding biology.
• Facilitate the learning of first-generation college students and incorporate culturally-relevant pedagogy within the classroom.
• Collaborate with department faculty in curriculum implementation, student support and continuous program improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree (MS or MA) or higher in biology or a related field.
• Demonstrated teaching ability.
• A vibrant Christian faith and commitment to an integration of faith and learning.

SALARY : Part-time. The following salary range reflects compensation paid for a 3-unit course (144 total hours), and varies based on the faculty member's highest earned degree. Total compensation is based on the number of courses taught and corresponding units for each course.

$3,120 to $3,720 per course
