What they need

Midland University, a private, faith-based, liberal arts university in Fremont, Nebraska (just outside of metro Omaha), is seeking multiple Student Teacher Supervisors to support the Three to Teach and Teacher Career Ladder programs.

Student Teacher Supervisor
School: Walker School of Education
Position type: Part-time adjunct
Location: Nebraska—localized assignments within the supervisor’s district or surrounding areas
Term: Spring 2027
Application deadline: Open until all positions are filled.

Position Overview
The Walker School of Education at Midland University seeks experienced educators throughout Nebraska to serve as clinical practice/student teacher supervisors for paraeducators completing the student-teaching or clinical-practice term of their teacher- preparation program. These teacher candidates are practicing paraeducators who are beginning the student- teaching portion of their program. Supervisors will support candidates throughout their clinical
experience through classroom observations, conferences, feedback, documentation, and collaboration with mentor teachers and university personnel.

Supervisors will generally be assigned to candidates in their own school district or in neighboring districts. Assignments are intended to involve a reasonable commute within the supervisor’s local area and surrounding communities; extensive statewide travel is not expected.

Essential Responsibilities
● Conduct scheduled classroom observations of assigned teacher candidates.
● Provide timely, specific, and constructive feedback on teaching performance.
● Support candidates in lesson planning, instruction, classroom management, assessment, and professional practice.
● Collaborate with school-based cooperating teachers and appropriate school personnel.
● Participate in conferences with the teacher candidate and cooperating teacher.
● Review lesson plans, teaching artifacts, required assignments, and portfolio materials.
● Complete observation reports, evaluations, and other required documentation.
● Communicate regularly with the university coordinator regarding candidate progress.
● Identify strengths, concerns, and areas for professional growth.
● Address concerns promptly and participate in improvement planning when necessary.
● Attend required supervisor orientation, training, and professional-development activities.

●Maintain confidentiality and comply with university, school-district, and professional requirements.

Time Commitment
The assignment and workload will vary based on the number and location of assigned candidates. Supervisors should anticipate responsibilities that may include:
● Approximately 1-4 teacher candidates per term
● Five required formal observations per candidate
● Pre- and post-observation conferences
● Communication with candidates, Cooperating Teachers, and university personnel
● Completion of online evaluations and documentation
● Participation in required meetings or training

●Most observations and conferences will occur during the school day and will be scheduled in
collaboration with the candidate and school personnel.

Geographic Expectations
Student teacher supervisors are needed throughout Nebraska. Supervisors will typically be assigned to paraeducators completing their clinical practice in:
● Their own school district
● Neighboring school districts
● Nearby communities within a reasonable commuting distance
●Supervisors must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to assigned school sites.

Compensation
Compensation will be discussed with candidates who are selected for the position. Compensation is generally based on the number of teacher candidates supervised.

Required Qualifications
● Master’s degree in education or a related field.
● Valid Nebraska teaching certificate or equivalent state-issued teaching credential.
● At least five years of successful classroom teaching experience.
● Experience working with students at grade levels or in subject areas relevant to
assigned candidates.
● Strong communication, observation, organization, and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to provide professional, specific, and constructive feedback.
● Reliable transportation for travel to assigned school sites.
● Ability to use email, online meeting platforms, and digital evaluation systems.

Preferred Qualifications

● Experience mentoring, coaching, supervising, or evaluating teachers or teacher candidates.
● Experience working with paraeducators or nontraditional teacher candidates.
● Experience supporting adult learners.
● Knowledge of teacher-preparation clinical-practice requirements.
● Experience with observation rubrics, professional portfolios, or teacher-evaluation systems.
● School leadership, instructional-coaching, or administrative experience.
● Elementary, secondary, special education, or other licensure relevant to assigned candidates.
