What they need
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Concord University invites applications for adjunct faculty in Computer Science.
We are building a pool of instructors to teach on
an as-needed basis. We welcome applications from experienced educators and working professionals alike.
The department offers four computing degree programs: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, and Data Analytics. Adjuncts may teach courses across these programs. Our greatest needs are typically in foundational courses such as introductory programming, data structures, networking, and database systems.
We also welcome candidates with strengths in data analytics, cybersecurity, or web and mobile application development.
Courses may be offered in person on our main campus in Athens, WV, and/or online, depending on departmental needs. Online courses are a mix of synchronous and asynchronous delivery, and candidates who live outside the region are welcome to apply for online sections.
Classes are small, typically 15–20 students, and teaching here is hands-on and student-focused. Successful candidates will be committed to high-quality undergraduate instruction and to helping students build a strong foundation in computing.
They will also support Concord University’s mission of fostering academic excellence in a supportive learning environment. In your cover letter, please indicate whether you are interested in teaching in person, online, or both.
