What they need
The Opportunity:
Our client, a global pharmaceutical organization, is seeking a Director of ADME Drug Development to join its R&D organization.
This individual will serve as a senior scientific expert across drug discovery and development, helping teams understand and optimize the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and disposition of novel therapeutics. The role sits at the intersection of ADME/DMPK, discovery, nonclinical development, clinical pharmacology, and regulatory strategy, with the opportunity to influence programs from early molecule optimization through clinical development.
The portfolio spans multiple therapeutic modalities, with deep small-molecule expertise being particularly important. The Director will work closely with scientists across chemistry, biology, pharmacology, toxicology, clinical pharmacology, and regulatory functions to translate complex ADME findings into clear development decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and guide ADME/DMPK strategy across discovery and development programs.
- Design and interpret in vitro, in vivo, and computational studies to understand pharmacokinetics, metabolism, disposition, and drug-interaction risk.
- Integrate ADME findings with chemistry, biology, pharmacology, and toxicology data to support molecule optimization, candidate selection, and development strategy.
- Serve as the ADME scientific expert on cross-functional teams, providing recommendations as programs progress toward and through the clinic.
- Support global development and regulatory activities, including scientific contributions to submission packages and interactions with health authorities.
- Advance ADME capabilities internally while providing scientific guidance and mentorship across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
- 6+ years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience within ADME, DMPK, drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, or a closely related area.
- Strong experience supporting drug discovery and development, with deep expertise in small molecules preferred.
- Experience with an additional modality such as biologics, antibodies, peptides, ADCs, siRNAs, gene therapies, or other complex therapeutics is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of pharmacokinetics, metabolism, drug interactions, and the integration of experimental and computational ADME data.
- Experience working cross-functionally and communicating scientific strategy to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Why Consider This Role?
- This position offers the opportunity to influence a broad drug development portfolio while working across discovery, translational science, clinical development, and regulatory strategy. It is well suited to an ADME scientist looking for significant scientific ownership, cross-functional visibility, and the ability to shape how novel therapeutics advance toward the clinic.
