What they need

Job Overview

Radiant Roots Learning Center is seeking a dependable, organized, and professional Administrative Assistant to support the daily administrative operations of our childcare center.

This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable working independently, managing multiple responsibilities, communicating with families and staff, and helping keep a busy office organized and running efficiently.

This is not simply a front-desk position. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of assigned responsibilities, identify what needs attention, follow through without constant supervision, and become a reliable part of our administrative team.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

  • Answering and directing phone calls, messages, and general inquiries
  • Greeting parents, visitors, vendors, and prospective families
  • Assisting with enrollment inquiries and scheduling tours
  • Following up with prospective families and maintaining enrollment leads
  • Preparing, organizing, filing, and maintaining administrative records
  • Entering and updating information in childcare management and office systems
  • Assisting with attendance records and documentation
  • Preparing forms, notices, letters, spreadsheets, and other documents
  • Maintaining organized electronic and physical filing systems
  • Assisting with employee paperwork and personnel files
  • Tracking documents, deadlines, certifications, and administrative requirements
  • Helping collect and organize paperwork from parents and staff
  • Assisting with tuition account communication and basic account follow-up
  • Supporting advertising, social media, and community outreach efforts
  • Helping maintain enrollment and waiting lists
  • Ordering and tracking office and facility supplies
  • Communicating professionally with parents, staff, vendors, and outside organizations
  • Assisting the Director and Assistant Director with administrative projects
  • Helping identify incomplete tasks, missing documentation, or areas needing follow-up
  • Performing other administrative and office duties as assigned

What We Are Looking For

The right person will be:

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Able to prioritize tasks without needing constant direction
  • Professional when communicating with parents and staff
  • Comfortable with computers and learning new software
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks in a busy environment
  • Willing to take initiative and follow projects through to completion
  • Friendly and approachable while still maintaining professional boundaries
  • Able to accept feedback and adapt as responsibilities grow

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous administrative, receptionist, clerical, childcare, medical office, billing, or customer service experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Workspace, or similar office software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with data entry and recordkeeping
  • Experience working in a childcare or school environment is helpful but not required

Training will be provided for our childcare-specific systems and procedures.

Position Growth

This position has the opportunity to grow as the employee demonstrates reliability, initiative, organization, and the ability to take ownership of responsibilities.

Additional responsibilities, hours, and compensation may become available based on performance and the needs of the center.

We especially value employees who can help improve office organization, parent communication, enrollment follow-up, advertising, and overall administrative efficiency.

Work Environment

Radiant Roots Learning Center is a growing childcare center serving families throughout the Taft area. Our administrative office operates in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change throughout the day.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working around children and staff while remaining focused on administrative responsibilities.

Schedule

Monday through Friday.

The position may initially be approximately 25–30 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing toward full-time based on performance, workload, and business needs.

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
