What they need
Administrative Coordinator / Optical Assistant
The Eyeglass Factory
Thornhill, ON
Full-time, 35–40 hours per week
$20–$26 per hour, depending on experience
The Eyeglass Factory is a busy independent optical store in Thornhill. We're looking for a friendly, organized and reliable person to join our team in a full-time administrative role.
A big part of the job is keeping things organized and making sure things don't get missed. You'll answer phones, book appointments, handle paperwork and follow-ups, communicate with customers and suppliers, and help with the day-to-day tasks that keep the store running. We're a small team, so the job isn't strictly administrative. When the store gets busy, everyone helps out. You'll also help customers with pickups, payments and eventually basic optical sales and frame selection.
You don't need optical experience. We're happy to train the right person.
What you'll be doing
Answering phones and helping with customer inquiries
Booking and managing appointments
Handling emails, paperwork and other administrative work
Keeping track of orders, follow-ups and things that still need to be done
Calling customers about orders and appointments
Communicating with suppliers and other offices
Processing payments and helping with pickups
Helping keep the store organized
Assisting our opticians and other staff as needed
Helping customers on the sales floor when we're busy
Learning about frames, lenses and basic optical sales
Taking on more responsibility as you learn the business
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is organized, dependable and good with people.
You should be comfortable talking to customers in person and on the phone, using computers, learning new systems and keeping track of several things at once.
We're especially interested in someone who takes initiative. If you see something that needs to be done, we'd like you to deal with it rather than wait to be asked.
Experience in an office, medical or dental office, optical store, retail or customer service would be helpful, but it isn't required. More important to us is finding someone who is reliable, learns quickly, gets along well with people and wants to stay and grow with the job.
What we offer
$20–$26 per hour, depending on experience
35–40 hours per week
Consistent hours
