Description:

The primary purpose of the Admissions Coordinator is responsible for supporting new admissions, transfers and discharges in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities for Admissions Coordinator:

• Serves as a liaison between hospitals, assisted living communities, physicians and other healthcare providers who provide referrals to facilities.
• Plans, develops and coordinates patient referrals, hospital & physician relationships.
• Secures new customers and works with facility leadership for both new and returning patients/residents to ensure a smooth admission into the facility.
• Actively communicates with facility leadership new admission information, projected changes in admissions, bed changes, discharges, tours, meetings and upcoming event information.
• Demonstrate a strong customer service approach through providing patient/resident and family members with all necessary information regarding facility services.
• Make inpatient visits to patients and provide education to providers, patients and families that are a potential for admission.
• Responsible for census development.
• Develop and implement public relations and marketing programs.
• Attend community events to increase census and to provide key community healthcare and organizations information regarding facility services.
• Works with various departments to ensure first impressions and standards are met for an overall professional presentation of the facility and services.
• Provides quality facility tours, maintains current knowledge of bed availability, ensures responses to all inquiries are handled properly, timely, and with appropriate follow-up.
• Maintains a working knowledge of federal and state regulations and reimbursement (Medicare and Medicaid) issues.
• Monitors, evaluates and shares customer satisfaction information with leadership team. Develops action plans as needed.
• Adheres to the budget guidelines for the department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Admissions Coordinator:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Degree in Business Administration/Public Relations/Marketing or a related field is desirable
• Admission Experience (Preferred)
• Strong Interpersonal skills
• Extensive travel required Ability to work flexible hours, as admission responsibilities may dictate
