Role Overview

We are seeking an Adobe Commerce (Magento) Senior Backend Developer to join our global engineering team. You will influence the technical direction of complex ecommerce implementations across Adobe Commerce On-Premise, Adobe Commerce Cloud, and the wider Adobe Experience Cloud ecosystem — including App Builder, Edge Delivery Services, API Mesh, and GraphQL-driven integrations.

Responsibilities

Technical Delivery & Architecture

• Participate in architecture and discovery sessions to translate business requirements into scalable, high-performing technical solutions
• Own technical strategy and solution design from conception through delivery
• Write clean, modular, extensible code following Adobe Commerce and PHP best practices with minimal supervision
• Develop custom modules, service contracts, API integrations, and backend features aligned with Adobe's latest architectural guidelines
• Extend, optimize, and troubleshoot core Adobe Commerce modules, checkout flows, catalog operations, and indexing
• Implement and support Edge Delivery Services (EDS) components, including server-side rendering, content sourcing, and block integrations

Modern Adobe Ecosystem

• Build cloud-native microservices and event-driven services using Adobe App Builder, including actions, event handlers, and API orchestration
• Develop, secure, and manage API integrations using Adobe API Mesh for federated API consumption across ERP, PIM, CRM, and search systems
• Contribute to headless and hybrid storefront architectures using GraphQL, REST APIs, and JavaScript-based services

Integrations, Performance & Quality

• Develop robust integrations between Adobe Commerce and external systems (ERP, CRM, OMS, Payment, Tax, PIM, etc.)
• Apply performance profiling and tuning across PHP code, indexes, MariaDB/MySQL queries, caching layers, and cloud infrastructure
• Apply modern deployment and CI/CD practices (Git, GitHub/Bitbucket, build pipelines, automated tests, static code analysis)
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and Support teams to triage issues and deliver rapid, high-quality fixes

Collaboration & Leadership

• Support technical design documentation, requirements refinement, and cross-team alignment
• Serve as a mentor to mid-level and junior developers, improving technical practices and troubleshooting skills
• Identify risks related to deadlines, performance, security, and integrations, and escalate proactively
• Contribute ideas for improving processes, development workflows, and overall engineering maturity

Required Qualifications

Core Technical Skills

• 5-7+ years of backend development experience with Adobe Commerce (Magento 2.x) and PHP (7.x/8.x)
• Adobe Commerce Backend Expert Certification (AD0-E727) required or in-progress with ability to obtain within 90 days
• Advanced understanding of Magento architecture: dependency injection, service contracts, event/observer patterns, EAV models, indexing, caching strategies, and extension development
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• PHP 7/8, OOP, Composer
• MySQL and query optimization
• JavaScript fundamentals (ES6+), Knockout.js, RequireJS
• GraphQL & REST API development
• HTML/CSS for backend-related tasks
• Linux, Nginx/Apache
• Bitbucket, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (unit, integration, API)

Adobe Experience Cloud & Modern Integrations

• Experience building microservices and automation using Adobe App Builder
• Familiarity with Adobe Edge Delivery Services (EDS) and its integration points with Adobe Commerce
• Experience with Adobe API Mesh for federated API orchestration
• Ability to design and deliver API-first, headless-ready backend implementations
