Advanced Practice Provider

Position Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides comprehensive primary care services within the scope of their licensure and clinical training. The APP evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients across the lifespan while collaborating with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

The APP practices with a high degree of clinical independence while maintaining appropriate consultation and collaboration with physicians and specialists when necessary. This position may also provide services in the same-day or urgent care clinic to address acute patient needs and support timely access to care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluation.
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions within the scope of licensure.
• Provide care for patients presenting with urgent or same-day medical concerns, including acute illnesses and minor injuries.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and laboratory results.
• Develop and implement patient treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Provide preventative care services including screenings, immunizations, and health education.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Coordinate patient care with internal departments and external referral providers.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review activities, and clinical meetings.
• Support organizational goals related to patient safety, quality care, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Education

• Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

Licensure

• Current and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Montana (or ability to obtain).
• Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain).
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred depending on service area).

Experience

• Previous clinical experience in primary care, family medicine, urgent care, or community health preferred.
• Previous tribal healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience working in rural or underserved populations preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to manage both scheduled primary care visits and acute same-day patient presentations.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to providing culturally responsive and patient-centered care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong documentation and clinical decision-making abilities.

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in an outpatient clinical setting. Providers may rotate between primary care clinics and same-day/urgent care services depending on patient demand and operational needs. The position may require standing for extended periods and performing routine clinical procedures.

Pay: From $110,000.00 per year
