Job Summary

Newton-Wellesley Hospital is launching a new 24/7 Midwifery and Gynecology APP coverage model and is seeking an APP Manager to help build and lead this exciting program. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Certified Nurse-Midwife to shape team culture, influence clinical operations, support professional development, and contribute to the growth and success of a multidisciplinary service while maintaining an active clinical practice.

The APP Manager is an experienced advanced practice provider who combines clinical expertise with operational and people leadership to support the delivery of exceptional patient care across a newly forming 24/7 Midwifery and Gynecology coverage program. This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape, develop, and grow a new team while establishing workflows, promoting clinical excellence, and supporting a collaborative care model. The APP Manager partners with multidisciplinary leaders to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care; optimize staffing and resource utilization; drive quality and performance initiatives; and foster professional growth in alignment with the MGB APP Career Framework.

Responsibilities include direct supervision and support of APP team members, participation in staffing and scheduling processes, oversight of onboarding and orientation, resolution of day-to-day clinical and operational issues, monitoring of key performance metrics, and involvement in employee performance management, professional development, recruitment, corrective action, and retention efforts. The APP Manager will also collaborate with physician, nursing, and administrative leaders to support the successful implementation and ongoing growth of this new service.

We encourage all interested NPs, PAs, and CNMs to apply. Previous leadership experience is welcomed but not required. The APP Manager role will be incorporated into the incumbent's existing position, with approximately 0.1 FTE dedicated to management and administrative responsibilities and the remaining 0.9 FTE devoted to clinical practice. This position will participate in the team's rotating 12-hour shift schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, consistent with operational needs and 24/7 coverage requirements.
