Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Role Overview: A Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a focus on oncology provides comprehensive hematology and oncology care in collaboration with physicians and a multidisciplinary team. The role involves patient assessment, prescribing medications and treatments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and assisting in clinical trials eligibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess physical and psychosocial patient status through interviews, exams, and studies.
• Prescribe medications, blood products, and therapeutic measures following protocols.
• Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials based on findings.
• Interpret lab and test results, communicate care plans with physicians.
• Document patient history, progress, discharge notes, and follow-up summaries.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, provide hospital coverage, and triage urgent cases.
• Assist in managing family dynamics, provide patient education, and support during crises.
• Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and privacy regulations, maintaining confidentiality.
• Contribute to team training, promote cancer treatments, and work across multiple locations as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program with a Master's degree.
• Active licensure and prescriptive privileges in the relevant state; current certification (ANCC or ONS), BLS required.
• Minimum 5 years of oncology experience preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
