Are you an Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years post qualification experience working in a social care, learning disabilities, mental health, younger adults or children’s setting? If so, then this could be the post for you!

We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our expanding OT workforce within Adult Social Care. We are specifically looking for an experienced OT to support our OT workforce across the Learning Disabilities, Metal Health and Younger Adults Teams.

About The Job The Younger Adults Team provides OT intervention for younger adults aged 18 to 25, as well as for older children who are transitioning from Children’s to Adult Services.

As Advanced Practitioner, you will have direct line management responsibility for the OTs within the Younger Adults Team, including prioritisation and allocation of work.

The Younger Adults Team also receives all referrals for children’s OT assessments, and as such you will work in collaboration with Advanced Practitioners from the Learning Disabilities and Mental Health Teams to allocate children’s work across all 3 teams.

You will provide professional support to OTs within the Learning Disabilities and Mental Health Teams in relation to both children’s and adults case work.

About You If you are an experienced Occupational Therapist with a strong background in complex casework and a passion for high-quality, person-centred practice, this role is perfect for you.

You will bring:

  • Experience of supervising or supporting staff, students or apprentices
  • Confidence in decision-making and leading practice
  • A commitment to developing others and improving outcomes
  • A collaborative and supportive leadership style

If you’re looking for a role where you can lead, influence and make a real difference - we’d love to hear from you.

We kindly request that recruitment agencies do not contact us regarding this job vacancy. We are not accepting agency applications or referrals at this time. At Walsall Council, we appreciate that AI can be a useful tool for ideas or guidance. However, we encourage you to make sure your application reflects your own voice and experiences. Over-reliance on AI can make responses feel less personal, and we really want to understand what makes you unique. Your experiences, skills, and perspective are what set you apart, so please ensure your application as a whole - particularly your ‘Supporting Information’ - reflects your own voice.

Closing Date: 1st November 2026. Interviews will be held during the week commencing 9th November 2026.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.

Walsall Council takes seriously the responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all the children, young people and vulnerable adults entrusted to our care and it is our expectation that all staff will share this commitment. We will ensure continuous development and improvement of robust recruitment processes and procedures that promote a culture of safeguarding amongst our workforce. Completion of an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is a requirement for working with children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Note: Applicants appointed to posts that require an enhanced DBS clearance must declare any periods of time that they have lived, studied or worked abroad and be prepared to provide an Overseas Criminal Records Certificate (OCRC) or a Statement of Good Conduct (SOGC) relating to anytime they were overseas.
