What they need

  • Are you an experienced therapist who feels confident working independently with children, young people and families?
  • Does your experience include areas such as trauma, adoption, attachment, neurodiversity or complex emotional and mental health needs?
  • Would you welcome an advanced clinical role that combines specialist therapeutic work with opportunities to contribute to service development?

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

About Changing Lives through Changing Minds

Changing Lives through Changing Minds is a growing charity for young people, based at Manor Farm in Coleby, North Lincolnshire.

Strong relationships, compassion and evidence-based practice underpin everything we do. Our trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approach supports children, young people and families to understand themselves better, work through challenges and achieve positive outcomes.

As we continue to develop our therapeutic services, we’re seeking an experienced Advanced Psychotherapist to join our team.

The Opportunity

This highly autonomous clinical position involves supporting children, young people and families with a wide range of needs.

You’ll hold your own caseload, taking responsibility for referral intake, therapeutic assessment, formulation, intervention planning, review and evaluation.

The children and families we work with have varied and often overlapping experiences. These may include adoption, trauma, attachment difficulties, neurodiversity and emotional or mental health needs. Your work will also involve supporting parents, families and the professionals around them.

As an Advanced Psychotherapist, you’ll practise independently within your professional competence, with case management and clinical supervision available as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Alongside delivering therapy, you’ll offer professional consultation, advice and practice support. You’ll also contribute to reports, resources, policy and training, sharing your specialist expertise to strengthen clinical quality and help develop the service.

Your Responsibilities

Your role will include:

  • Managing your own caseload of children, young people and families, covering referral, assessment, formulation, intervention planning, review and evaluation.
  • Delivering one-to-one, group, parent and family therapeutic work for up to 4 families a day, across areas including trauma, adoption, attachment, neurodiversity and emotional or mental health needs.
  • Applying evidence-based, trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approaches, tailoring your work to each child, young person or family and evaluating its impact and outcomes.
  • Building collaborative relationships with families, colleagues and external professionals, including leading multi-agency meetings and offering consultation, advice and guidance.
  • Producing high-quality therapeutic assessments, formulations, risk assessments, reports and professional records using trauma-informed language, while upholding confidentiality and safeguarding standards.
  • Sharing specialist knowledge through reflective discussion, training, mentoring, resources, policy and service development.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds a degree or master’s-level qualification in psychotherapy, counselling, social work, mental health nursing, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy or psychology, together with current professional registration, membership or accreditation with a recognised body such as BACP, BABCP, EMDR Europe, BPS, HCPC or equivalent.
  • Brings strong post-qualification therapeutic experience working with children, young people and/or families.
  • Has knowledge and experience across trauma, attachment, child development, neurodiversity, sensory processing differences, adoption, safeguarding and complex emotional or mental health needs.
  • Can assess and formulate needs confidently, manage an independent caseload, make appropriate clinical decisions and escalate when risk, complexity or professional boundaries require it.
  • Demonstrates strong written communication, clinical documentation and report-writing skills, including accurate and confidential record keeping.
  • Takes a reflective approach, is professionally confident and builds positive relationships with children, families and other professionals.

Applicants must also have completed at least one relevant specialist therapeutic training beyond their core professional qualification, such as DDP, EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, DBT, ACT, BUSS or another appropriate specialist therapeutic approach.

What We Offer

You’ll become part of a passionate, supportive organisation that places relationships at the centre of its work.

You can expect:

  • A varied and meaningful therapeutic caseload.
  • Autonomy to apply your professional expertise and judgement.
  • Support from a multidisciplinary team and appropriate clinical supervision.
  • Ongoing professional development and opportunities to share your specialist knowledge.
  • Opportunities to help shape therapeutic services as the organisation grows.

Key Role Details

  • The salary shown is the full-time equivalent. The actual salary will be pro rata based on 30 hours per week, up to £29,640 per year.
  • Working hours will fall predominantly between Monday and Friday, 9am–5pm.
  • The role is primarily based at Manor Farm, Coleby, North Lincolnshire and involves significant face-to-face work.
  • Occasional work in community settings or home visits may be required. Applicants must therefore be able to drive and travel as needed for the role and have valid business insurance.
