Advocate

Summary: Ohana Health pregnancy clinic is a compassionate Christian ministry offering life-affirming services to women, men and their families who are faced with unplanned pregnancies. Our mission is to provide supportive services that empower mothers to choose life.

Ohana is a religious nonprofit medical clinic offering free pregnancy testing, ultrasound exams, options, education, classes and material resources. The patient Advocate’s role is to provide a loving, non-judgmental atmosphere for patients seeking our services and to educate them about options available to them during their pregnancy. It is also essential to provide ongoing services and support, as the patient feels necessary.

Job Purpose: Providing process and spiritual leadership with excellence offering truth spoken in love and peace of mind to women facing the possibility of an unplanned pregnancy to empower her with critical life-saving information.

Qualifications:

• Agreement with the Ohana Health Statement of Faith and understanding of the Ohana Health Statement of Principles
• Compassionate understanding of human nature
• A commitment to maintain confidentiality
• In agreement with the Pro-life platform and the sanctity of human life position
• A Christian who is active in a local church
• Completion of the Focus Method training and shadowing, a minimum of 7 times shadowing and 7 times being shadowed by Patient Services Manager
• Knowledge of scripture that pertains to the sanctity of human life, forgiveness and salvation
• Spanish & English speaking
• Excellent communication and organizational skills

A willingness to share the gospel of Jesus Christ by word and example to encourage affiliates, staff and others to contribute to an office environment conductive to supporting the organization’s Christian ministry of life. Possess and demonstrate a servant’s heart with the ability to understand the responsibility to positively impact Ohana Health’s ministry of supporting life.

Primary Responsibilities:

Patient Services

• Pray with Patient Services and Medical Services Team concerning patients of the day
• Complete all items included on the Advocate Training Checklist
• Advocate for your patients while overseeing the Focus 15 Step Patient Process
• Provide patients with appropriate educational materials
• Facilitate a seamless flow between the Advocate and Medical Services
• Commit to follow the Advocate Script with every patient - Communicate to Patient Services Manager if the script and/or process is not followed

Administrative

• Communicate any patient flow issues to the Shift Supervisor of your shift
• Case Management to keep files updated, close cases, chart progress and offer services

Additional

• Attend staff, departmental and volunteer meetings as necessary
• Assist with fundraisers as necessary
• Perform additional duties as asked

Physical Demands:

Employee is required to sit and view a monitor for up to 4 hours. Exhibit vision at 20/20 with correction as needed and the ability to hear in the normal range. Must be able to work independently with minimal oversight.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6.0 – 12.0 per week
