Aerospace Engineer

Systems Engineer – Aerospace – ALTEN Nederland

ALTEN Netherlands is expanding its Aerospace Systems Engineering team to support upcoming projects with aviation, space, and defence clients in the Hengelo and Leiden regions. We are looking for Systems Engineers with 3 to 8+ years of experience who can structure complex aerospace systems, manage requirements, define interfaces, and support multidisciplinary development in a safety‑critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Engineering & Architecture

• Perform requirements engineering using DOORS or Polarion .
• Decompose systems into subsystems and components with full V‑model traceability.
• Define system architectures using SysML (Cameo, Capella, Enterprise Architect).
• Contribute to modelling and simulation using MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow .
• Apply aerospace development standards such as ARP4754A and ARP4761 .

Verification & Validation

• Develop V&V strategies, test plans, and acceptance criteria aligned with aerospace certification frameworks ( DO‑178C , DO‑254 , ECSS ).
• Perform FMEA , fault tree analysis, and reliability assessments.
• Support integration, qualification, and acceptance of airborne or spaceborne systems.

Agile & Project Preparation

• Structure incoming aerospace projects by defining EPICs, features, and system‑level deliverables.
• Work with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to translate system requirements into Agile work packages.
• Use Jira to manage system‑level tasks and track progress.

Requirements

• 3 to 8+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role.
• Strong background in requirements engineering, system decomposition, interfaces, and V&V.
• Experience with SysML and modelling tools (Cameo, Capella, Enterprise Architect).
• Hands‑on experience with DOORS , Polarion, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with ARP4754A , ARP4761 , DO‑178C/DO‑254 , and aerospace V&V practices.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for system modelling.
• Experience with Jira and Agile environments.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or similar.
