This is a unique opportunity for an Aerospace Software Quality Engineer to join a fast-moving, innovative aerospace and EVTOL organization. This company takes pride in pushing the boundaries of technology to deliver something that has never been done before. They are known for their hands-on approach, supporting each other through the tough spots, and generating a close-knit team with a family feel. If you are open, enthusiastic, and want to tackle challenges by designing and testing safety-critical software for powertrain and avionics systems from the ground up, this role could be a perfect fit for you!

- No Holiday Cap
- Hybrid work options for flexibility
- Company Paid Group Benefits Plan and Health Spending Account
- Company Stock Matching Program and Equity Awards
- Relocation allowances available in appropriate cases
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Develop safety-critical software components for battery management systems, motor controllers, and autopilot platforms.
- Generate all required life cycle data (high-level requirements, software architecture, low-level requirements, source code) and work with system engineers to decompose requirements in compliance with regulations.
- Participate in design discussions to help shape overall system architecture and interface directly with suppliers.
- Assist with the integration of components on aircraft by configuring and modifying firmware to ensure compatibility in communication protocols, baud rates, bus timing, etc.
- Perform software analysis, requirements-based testing, and structural coverage analysis while ensuring traceability to higher-level requirements documentation.
- Develop the test infrastructure to verify platform software.
- Identify, document, and track software defects through to resolution, ensuring traceability between requirements, test cases, and test results.
- Support software quality assurance activities including audits, reviews, and process compliance verification in alignment with regulatory and certification requirements.
- Collaborate with systems and software engineers to define acceptance criteria and validate that outputs meet specified performance and safety requirements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes to increase safety and efficiency.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
- Educational background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field.
- Proven experience designing software from original conception and architecture to implementation in code (developing from the ground up, rather than just performing small updates to existing systems).
- Proficiency developing and deploying firmware for embedded platforms, particularly in C or C++ (other languages considered an asset).
- Fluency with scripting in Python.
- Experience developing software in the context of safety-critical and/or highly regulated industries, such as aerospace.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to self-manage and work independently to complete time-sensitive tasks.
- Bonus: Experience working on firmware for flight controls systems, powertrains, motor controllers, or power controllers.
- Bonus: Knowledge of DO-178, DO-331, and DO-254 standards, as well as Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and multi-threaded applications.
- Bonus: Familiarity with Model-Based Design (no/low-code design principles), UML/SysML modeling tools, Linux operating systems, or 3D modeling tools (SolidWorks, Blender, Meshmixer).
- Bonus: Familiarity with software development for commercial flight simulation products (e.g., X-Plane, Microsoft Flight Simulator).
