Aerostructural Engineer

Summary of Function:

The applicant will design, build and test prototype aircraft structures. The scope of work will span from conceptual to detail design, part and assembly design, system design, manufacturing support and flight test support. Typical work includes but no limited to design and manufacture of primary structural elements and their integration into the overall vehicle.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Design:

• Design primary and secondary load paths for the aircraft
• Conceptual design, structural layout, sizing and detail design
• Generate of fabrication and assembly work instructions.
• Create 3D/2D definition of parts, assemblies and installations.
• Establish manufacturing tolerances for production of structural components.

Analysis:

• Develop and validate structural models (static, dynamic fatigue, thermal) using FEM tools.
• Perform FEA simulations for components and assemblies. Stress analysis
• Aeroelastic analysis
• Prepare technical reports.
• Perform stress analyses using classical and finite element methods.
• Create stress analysis-related documents.

Others:

• Support various activities related to the project
• Simultaneous work on multiple projects
• Create structural test plans which will be used to verify manufacturing processes meet design intent and requirements.
• Support manufacturing and assembly.
• Support ground and flight test planning, test execution, and aircraft modifications.

Qualifications:

Education Background

• Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science in aerospace/aeronautical engineering or relevant engineering discipline from an accredited institution or substantial equivalent experience. A Master’s of Science is a plus.

Professional Experiences

• Prior work experience 2-7 years in the aerospace or structural design and FEM/FEA analysis (entry to senior roles can be adjusted). Strong understanding of materials (metallic and composite) and structural mechanics.

Must-have qualifications

• Expertise in Aerodynamics and Aerospace Engineering
• Experience with Systems Engineering principles
• Knowledge of Aircraft and Spacecraft systems
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field
• At least 2 years of experience in aerospace engineering
• Experience in aerospace projects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Position Requirement

• Strong Analytical skills.
• Good knowledge of Aircraft Sizing, Aerodynamics, Aircraft Performance, and Stability & Control.
• Good level of English verbal and written communication. Typical IELTS Level: 6 or similar is an advantage.

• Have a proactive approach.
• Strong problem solving, organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Familiarity with mathematical tools such as, MATLAB or Octave, is desired.
• Familiarity with low fidelity CFD such as vortex lattice method or panel method is desired.
• Familiarity with Aerodynamics Analysis, Flight Mechanics Analysis, and Aircraft Performance Analysis is desired.
• Knowledge in programming languages, such as Python or C#, is a plus.

Key competencies:

• Good knowledge of aircraft load paths and structural sizing.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communications skills (verbal and written).
• Good proficiency in 3D CAD is required. Competency in SolidWorks 3D CAD is desired.
• Good proficiency in Simcenter 3D, ANSYS R2, HyperMesh or equivalent finite element analysis software.
• Good level of English verbal and written communication. Typical IELTS Level: 6 or similar is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Quality Management System ISO 9001, AS9100, is a plus.
• Familiarity with ASME Y14 policies is a plus.
• Good team player.

Physical Demands:

• Occasionally required to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time.
• Manual dexterity and coordination are required (e.g., to operate computer keyboard and mouse)
• Requires mobility (e.g., climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, reach, crouch or crawl)
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10kg.
• Vision at close distances and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

• The applicant’s main work will be at the office but should be available to travel outside of Bangkok for site surveys, testing and training.
