Program OverviewBay Area Tutoring Association (BATA) is seeking dedicated tutors to support middle school students in reading and literacy development as part of the Mt. Pleasant Elementary School District’s after-school program.Tutors will implement the Phonics for Reading curriculum to strengthen foundational reading skills, improve comprehension, and build student confidence. Sessions will take place on-site in small-group settings (approximately 3:1 student–tutor ratio).Schedule

• On Campus - Monday–Thursday: 2:15–4:15 p.m.
• Zoom Training Meeting - Friday: 2:15–4:15 p.m.
• Grades: 3 – 8
• Target Start Date: October 26, 2026

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging literacy tutoring sessions using the Phonics for Reading curriculum and other ELA resources.
• Support students in developing reading fluency, vocabulary, and writing skills.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and site coordinators to align instruction.
• Track student attendance and progress using provided reporting tools.
• Participate in required training sessions and staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Prior tutoring, teaching, or literacy support experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and reliability.
• Ability to develop rapport with students and foster a supportive learning environment.
• Passion for helping students succeed academically.

Requirements

• Completion of required training sessions (dates to be announced).
• HR onboarding requirements, including background check and TB clearance.

Pay: $18.45 - $22.00 per hour
