After School Program Assistant

**Job Summary:**The Program Assistant provides support to the youth and food programs at Abiding Missions. Working closely with the Program Manager, Executive Director, and Community Chaplain to assist in coordination of program provision and outreach.

Hours would be aproximately 1:30pm - 6:30pm, Mon-Thursday; 2pm - 5:30, Fridays.
This is a great position for young adults and college students. We would love to hire someone living in a South Pittsburgh neighborhood!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in planning and implementation of afternoon/evening youth programs
• Lead and directly group activities during After School program
• Lead setup of building spaces before After School program
• Participate in weekly staff meetings
• Assist with management of Junior Counselors and volunteers, coordinating their on site activities
• Lead building clean-up at the end of each night
• Assist with meal preparation and cooking
• Document service usage numbers and maintain service spreadsheets
• Receive and provide general support to visitors, including identifying needs they may have
• Participate in outreach events
• Participate in Warming Center operation

Necessary Qualities and Skills:

• Strong computer skills and comfort with technology systems – proficient in MS Office
• Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of our neighbors experiencing poverty
• Ability to work well in a small team or independently
• Calm and competent attitude during periods of stress
• Understanding of the challenges of clients with mental health, chemical dependency, and behavioral needs
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Excellent and clear oral and written communication skills
• Creative problem solver

Education/Experience Requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent, must be 18+ years of age
• PA Act 33 (Child Abuse), Act 34 (Criminal History), Federal Criminal History (FBI Fingerprint) Clearances

Job Types: Contract, Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
