Afterschool Meal Program Assistant

Building on Direction is seeking a dependable and organized Afterschool Meal Program Assistant to support our CACFP afterschool meal program. This position is responsible for serving meals to children, maintaining accurate meal-service records, and following all required CACFP procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up and serve afterschool meals and snacks to children.
• Ensure each child receives the appropriate meal or snack.
• Follow CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) requirements and meal-service procedures.
• Complete accurate daily meal counts and required CACFP documentation.
• Ensure meals contain the required components according to the approved menu.
• Verify and document the number of meals served.
• Maintain organized and accurate meal-service records.
• Clean and sanitize the meal-service area before and after serving.
• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and food-safety procedures.
• Receive, organize, and properly store meals and food supplies as assigned.
• Report meal shortages, missing components, damaged food, or other meal-service concerns.
• Follow all Building on Direction and CACFP policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must be dependable and punctual.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from assigned work locations.
• Reliable transportation is a requirement of this position.
• Must be able to arrive at assigned meal-service locations on time each scheduled workday.
• Must be detail-oriented and able to maintain accurate records.
• Must be able to follow CACFP requirements and instructions.
• Must be comfortable serving meals to children.
• Must maintain a clean and organized food-service area.
• Must complete required CACFP and food-safety training.
• Must successfully complete required background and child-safety screenings.
• Previous CACFP, school meal, or food-service experience is preferred but not required.

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 25.0 per week
