After School Program Leader

Job Summary

SPECIFICALLY: looking for someone available Mondays and Wednesdays

The School Program Staff plays a vital role in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for students. This position involves working closely with children in various educational settings, providing guidance, support, and supervision. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for education and child development, along with the ability to foster positive relationships with students and staff.

The Jack Purcell Recreation Association seeks counsellors for its After School Program, which operates from September - June throughout the school year from 2:30-5:30pm at Jack Purcell Community Centre.

Duties

• Implementing and leading daily activities planned by the Coordinator/Supervisor (this includes both high energy and low energy activities, time outdoors, swimming, etc.).
• Adhering to safe policies and procedures outlined by the association
• Establishing and maintaining open communication with coworkers, children and parents.
• Must have previous working experience in children's programs and camps.
• Education in children’s studies is an asset.
• Must have valid First Aid and CPR certification.
• Must provide proof of police record check in the vulnerable sector or undergo one when hired.
• Must attend a virtual interview with the Programs Manager.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student development.

Skills

• Knowledge of first aid procedures to ensure student safety.
• Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, or tutoring.
• Ability to implement behavior management techniques effectively.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, and staff. This role requires dedication, creativity, and a commitment to fostering a nurturing educational environment for all students.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.25 per hour

Work Location: In person
