Part-Time 7D Van Driver Needed

Kids' Place is a Christian-based non-profit afterschool program located in Malden, MA. We are licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care and cater to children in kindergarten through 8th grade. We are currently looking for a part-time van driver to drive during the week for our after-school program. Potential candidates will display a commitment to safety, be reliable and have a genuine, caring attitude for children. Ideal candidates will have the heart for the gospel and support the Christian teachings and beliefs.

• $19-23 hourly start pay
• Must be available from 1:45 through 3:10 daily and occasionally from 10:30 through 11:45 for early dismissal days.
• Hours may be adjusted moderately based on numbers of schools needing pick-up and school release times.

Responsibilities will be to:

• Safely transport children from local schools to our after-school program and occasionally to field trips.
• Perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections.
• Assists students in loading and unloading the school van.
• Maintain bus attendance checklist when 8 or less children are on the van.
• Contact school, program, and parent when a child does not show-up.
• Responsible for the conduct of the children on van.

Requirements of a Van Driver:

• Good verbal communication skills
• At least 21 years old
• Valid driver’s license for at least 3 years
• Must be able to pass a background check and fingerprinting as required by the Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC)
• First Aid, CPR and AED certification (we can provide this)
• Must watch and online bus safety video as required by DEEC
• Obtain a (7D) School Pupil Certificate (we can assist with this process)
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as needed.

To apply for a school pupil transport (7D) certificate, you must:

• Hold a valid Class A, B, C, or D driver's license for 3 continuous years immediately before application
• Be at least 21 years of age
• Pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) check
• Pass a SORI (Sex Offender Registry Information) check
• Complete 2-hours of Pre-Service for new applicants or 8-hour In-Service training for renewals.
• Have a satisfactory driving record
• Pass an eye exam, a physical exam, and a written knowledge exam
