What they need
About Technix Academy
Technix Academy teaches kids ages 6 to 18 the technical skills behind the hobbies they love now and the careers they’ll build later. Since 2016, we’ve worked with everyone from absolute beginners writing their first line of code to advanced teens tackling college-level and professional material.
We’re not a drop-in daycare with computers, and we’re not a scripted franchise. We teach from our own in-house curriculum, keep class sizes small so every student gets real attention, and take each student’s progress seriously. We hire instructors who actually want to teach.
The Role
As a STEM Instructor, you’ll work directly with students in coding, robotics, computer hardware, and software, teaching private lessons and small-group lessons. No two sessions look the same. One hour you might be helping a seven-year-old build their first robot, and the next you’re walking a high schooler through a Python project. You’ll adapt your teaching on the fly, track where each student is, and keep families informed about how their child is growing.
This is hands-on, in-person work. It’s a great fit for a dependable professional who knows at least one technical area well, genuinely enjoys working with kids, takes pride in a well-run space, and wants to get better at both the tech and the teaching.
What You’ll Do
- Teach private and small-group lessons in coding, robotics, computer hardware, and software using our in-house curriculum
- Adapt the same material for a nervous beginner or an advanced student ready to be pushed
- Keep clear, accurate notes on each student’s progress
- Communicate with parents about their child’s growth, wins, and next steps
- Create a welcoming, professional experience for every student and family
- Disassemble robot builds after sessions and sort and organize parts and kits so they’re ready for the next student
- Handle facility maintenance and keeping the learning space clean, organized, and presentable
- Take on specialized projects based on your strengths and interests, such as curriculum development, building demo projects, equipment setup, or other areas where you can contribute
- Expand your own technical range so you can teach more of our subjects over time
Who Thrives Here
- Patient and encouraging: you can explain the same idea three different ways without losing your cool
- Adaptable: you’re comfortable switching between age groups and skill levels in the same afternoon
- Genuinely into the material: your curiosity about tech is contagious
- Reliable: you show up on time, prepared, and follow through on what you say
- Respectful and professional: you treat students, parents, and coworkers with courtesy, and you take direction well
- Takes ownership: you don’t wait to be asked to clean up, reset a room, or fix a problem
- A people person: you enjoy talking with parents as much as teaching students
