Lead Preschool Teacher – Job Description/Position Summary

The Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for preschool-aged children. The Lead Teacher plans and implements curriculum, supervises children and classroom staff, supports individual learning needs, and maintains effective communication with families and administration.

Primary Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based activities and curriculum.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
• Provide active supervision and ensure children's health and safety at all times.
• Support children's social-emotional, cognitive, physical, language, and developmental needs.
• Modify activities and provide individualized support for children with additional learning or developmental needs.
• Complete lesson plans, observations, assessments, attendance, and other required documentation.
• Provide guidance and direction to Teacher Assistants and other classroom staff.
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with children, families, coworkers, and administration.
• Communicate children's progress, needs, and concerns appropriately with families and administration.
• Follow all program policies, procedures, and applicable NYS OCFS regulations.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and program events.
• Serve as a positive role model and demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, respect, and accountability.

Qualifications

• Experience working with preschool-aged children required.
• Early Childhood Education or related experience preferred. (Professional development help can be requested.)
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A passion to work with children, especially in an ECE environment.
• Must meet applicable NYS OCFS education and training requirements.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
