Aftercare Assistant

Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Aftercare Assistant to join our vibrant educational team from 4:00pm to 5:45pm. In this role, you will support the ongoing development and well-being of children after school hours, creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on children’s lives while developing your skills in early childhood education and youth development.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children during afterschool hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
• Facilitate engaging activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, and educational projects that promote creativity and social skills
• Manage behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and effective behavior management strategies
• Support children with homework or tutoring needs to reinforce learning and build confidence
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment that encourages exploration and learning
• Collaborate with colleagues to plan age-appropriate programs aligned with developmental goals
• Follow all safety protocols including first aid procedures, CPR certification requirements, and emergency response plans to ensure a secure environment for all children

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is highly preferred
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
• Certification in First Aid, CPR, AED operation, and familiarity with first aid protocols (training can be provided if needed)
• Strong classroom management skills with the ability to handle diverse behaviors effectively
• Experience facilitating youth group activities or camp experiences is advantageous
• Ability to work outdoors when necessary and adapt to various activity settings
• Excellent communication skills for working with children, parents, and team members in a professional manner

Pay: $16.50 - $17.00 per hour
