What they need
Be the person who brings order to how our global Aftermarket team captures and shares technical knowledge. This is an office based coordination role in Hamilton, ideal for someone with a technical background who enjoys detail, documentation and working with people across the world - and who wants to build a career in Aftermarket.
About Us
GEA is one of the world's largest systems suppliers for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical sectors. Our portfolio includes machinery and plants as well as advanced process technology, components and comprehensive services, enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of production processes globally.
GEA Avapac is a New Zealand-based specialist in the design and manufacture of high-quality packaging machinery and packing line solutions for the dairy, food and beverage industries. With a strong engineering heritage and the support of GEA's global network, we deliver tailored solutions across the full product lifecycle - from design, installation and commissioning through to ongoing service and support.
About the Role
We are seeking an Aftermarket Engineering Coordinator to provide documentation and coordination support to our global Aftermarket team. Based in our Hamilton office, you will be the custodian of Aftermarket technical documentation - making sure service, upgrade, parts and training information is accurate, current and easy for our people and customers to find.
Our machines are supported by execution companies and service hubs around the world, and the knowledge that keeps them running well is currently spread across many folders, formats and systems. Your job is to bring that together: building out our Service Foundation knowledge base, standardising service reporting, maintaining quality documentation and parts information, and supporting the development of training material.
This is a support and enablement role rather than a design engineering position. It is also a genuine development opportunity - the breadth of exposure across service, parts, upgrades and customers is designed to build your knowledge of the Avapac product range and open a pathway into broader Aftermarket roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as custodian of Aftermarket documentation, consolidating tools, templates, reports and technical information into one structured, accessible location.
- Maintain and expand the Service Foundation knowledge base, working with Service Technicians globally to capture best practice.
- Maintain folder structures, naming conventions and version control so only current, approved documentation is in circulation.
- Develop and maintain Inspection and Test Plan templates for upgrades and machine modifications, and coordinate sign-off and customer documentation.
- Compile and maintain instructions, material certificates and BOM documentation, including QR code linkages.
- Standardise service reporting across Competence Centres and support the move to automated reporting, maintaining alignment with SAP.
- Collate service data to support ROI calculations and Service Level Agreement sales.
- Maintain documentation for Service Packs, Parts Kits and upgrade products, including parts identification and supporting evidence.
- Maintain the obsolete parts database and cost/benefit data supporting refurbishment versus replacement decisions.
- Consolidate operator and Service Technician training material, identify gaps and support the development of training products.
- Act as first point of contact for Aftermarket documentation requests and coordinate input from contributors across multiple time zones.
About You
You are methodical, detail-focused and genuinely enjoy bringing structure to information. You are comfortable around engineering drawings and technical content, and you like the satisfaction of building something useful that others rely on. You are confident following up with people across the business and the globe to get what you need, and you are motivated to learn the product inside out.
You Will Have:
- A relevant technical qualification - NZ Certificate or Diploma in Engineering, a mechanical engineering trade qualification, or equivalent. Relevant practical experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
- Experience in technical documentation, engineering support, service coordination or aftermarket administration.
- Working knowledge of mechanical assemblies, engineering drawings and bills of material.
- Experience maintaining document control systems, knowledge bases or SharePoint sites.
- Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems; SAP experience an advantage.
- Exposure to service reporting, spare parts or warranty processes is desirable.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel and SharePoint.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong written English, and the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent requests.
What We Offer
- Competitive remuneration package
- Eligibility for GEA's global bonus scheme
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Health and wellbeing initiatives
- Free Parking
- Company and Birthday Day off
- Exposure to leading packaging and process technologies within a global organisation
- Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities within our Aftermarket team
