What they need

About the Role

Our client is an established Australian food manufacturer experiencing significant growth across its operations. Following a record year, the business is continuing to increase production volumes while investing in additional filling, bottling, processing and warehousing capacity.

Working hours are 12:00pm - 10:00pm, Monday - Thursday.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will take ownership of the day-to-day performance of the shift, ensuring production is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with quality and GMP requirements.

This is a hands-on leadership position. You will be highly visible on the floor, provide direction to the team and be comfortable jumping into the operation when required, while maintaining oversight of production, labour and shift performance.

Location: Northern suburbs of Melbourne

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily production activities across filling and packing
  • Ensure batches start on time and production remains aligned with plan
  • Allocate labour and delegate tasks effectively across the shift
  • Drive a safety-first culture and lead standards by example
  • Maintain GMP, quality, cleanliness and housekeeping requirements
  • Monitor productivity and manage labour and overtime effectively
  • Lead toolbox talks, team huddles and shift handovers
  • Manage rostering and day-to-day shift administration
  • Coach and develop team members while maintaining accountability for performance
  • Work closely with other Team Leaders and provide shift coverage when required

The Ideal Candidate For This Position Will Have Experience In The Following

  • 3-5 years' experience within manufacturing, ideally within food
  • Previous experience leading a production, packing or manufacturing team
  • Strong hands-on and visible approach to frontline leadership
  • Good understanding of GMP and manufacturing quality standards
  • Strong safety awareness and experience reinforcing safe working practices
  • Confidence managing labour, production priorities and operational decisions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead a diverse workforce
  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of shift performance

The business is prepared to train the successful candidate on its equipment and processes, so proven people leadership and the right attitude are more important than knowing every technical aspect from day one.
