Afterschool Program Classroom Assistant

Do you enjoy working with children and families? Are you organized, dependable, and passionate about creating a welcoming environment? PEL Learning Castro Valley is looking for a Classroom Assistant/Center Member to be the first friendly face our students and families see when they walk through our doors.

As the Classroom Assistant, you'll play a key role in ensuring our center runs smoothly by greeting families, supporting daily operations, and helping create an exceptional experience for every student.

What You'll Do

• Welcome students and families with a warm, professional attitude.
• Check students in and collect homework upon arrival
• Keep the front desk and reception area clean, organized, and inviting.
• Support grading students’ class work when needed
• Prepare learning materials and assist instructors with administrative tasks.
• Monitor the center to ensure students transition smoothly between activities.
• Help with Math and English questions when needed (middle school math and under.)
• Support center managers with daily operations and special projects as needed.What We're Looking For

• Friendly, professional, and enjoys interacting with families.
• Comfortable with Middle School Math (Long division, Fraction)
• Reliable, punctual, and takes pride in following through on responsibilities.
• Organized with strong attention to detail.
• Able to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive team player with a positive attitude.

Availability

Required: Please make sure you are available to work inperson for BOTH days.

• Wednesdays: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
• Saturdays: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Minimum commitment of 7 hours per week.

Additional hours (up to 10–12 hours per week) may be available at another nearby PEL Learning location for candidates seeking a larger schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

• Customer service, receptionist, or administrative experience.
• Experience working with children or in an educational setting.
• College students or graduates interested in education, child development, psychology, business, or communications are encouraged to apply.
