Afterschool Teacher — Full-Time

Location: Gresham, Oregon
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Full-Time
Starting Pay: $24.00 per hour

About the Position

We are looking for a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Afterschool Teacher to join our childcare center in Gresham, Oregon.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with school-age children and is passionate about creating a safe, positive, and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and grow.

We are especially interested in candidates who have a degree or educational background in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive and engaging supervision of school-age children
• Plan and lead fun, age-appropriate educational and recreational activities
• Create a safe, positive, and nurturing classroom environment
• Support children's social, emotional, and academic development
• Assist children with homework and school-related activities as appropriate
• Maintain consistent classroom routines and expectations
• Communicate professionally and positively with families and coworkers
• Follow all childcare center policies, health and safety procedures, and state licensing requirements
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom

Required Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience working in a certified/licensed childcare center
• Must be enrolled in the Oregon Central Background Registry (CBR)
• Experience working with school-age children preferred
• Must meet all applicable Oregon childcare employment and licensing requirements
• Reliable, responsible, and dependable
• Patient, positive, and enthusiastic when working with children
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a related field
• Experience planning and implementing age-appropriate activities
• Experience working in an afterschool or school-age program
