Position: Agriculture Teacher – Maternity Leave

Position Type: Temporary / Maternity Leave Coverage

Grades: 7–12

North Vermillion Jr./Sr. High School is seeking a qualified and dependable individual to serve as an Agriculture Teacher during a maternity leave. The successful candidate will provide instruction in assigned agriculture courses, maintain established classroom routines and expectations, and support students in continuing their coursework throughout the teacher’s absence.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide daily instruction for assigned agriculture courses using lesson plans, curriculum materials, and resources provided by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom and laboratory learning environment.
• Facilitate hands-on learning activities related to agriculture, when appropriate and outlined in provided plans.
• Assess student learning, provide feedback, and maintain accurate student grades and records.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with North Vermillion Jr./Sr. High School expectations and policies.
• Communicate with students, families, staff, and administration as needed.
• Collaborate with other teachers and school personnel to support student learning.
• Provide appropriate supervision of students during classroom, laboratory, and other assigned activities.
• Follow all school safety procedures, particularly when students are working with agricultural equipment, tools, materials, or laboratory activities.
• Maintain continuity of instruction and classroom expectations throughout the maternity leave.
• Perform other duties normally associated with the teaching assignment as directed by building administration.

Qualifications

• Valid Indiana teaching license preferred, particularly in Agriculture Education.
• Individuals with relevant agriculture, education, or career and technical education experience are encouraged to apply.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with junior high and high school students.
• Willingness to follow established curriculum, lesson plans, procedures, and classroom expectations.
• Knowledge of agriculture, agricultural science, animal science, plant science, natural resources, agribusiness, or related areas is preferred.
• Must meet all requirements for employment with North Vermillion Community School Corporation.

The ideal candidate will be dependable, organized, flexible, and comfortable working with students in both traditional classroom and hands-on learning environments. We are looking for someone who can provide consistency for students while maintaining the expectations and learning established by the regular classroom teacher.
