Agent in Charge (AIC)

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated, knowledgeable, and experienced Agent in Charge (AIC) to help lead daily operations at Oil & Leaf Dispensary in Lombard, Illinois.

The AIC will play an important leadership role in maintaining regulatory compliance, supervising dispensary staff, overseeing inventory procedures, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Illinois cannabis regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced retail environment. We value individuals who take initiative, demonstrate accountability, and are passionate about creating a welcoming, professional, and compliant dispensary.

Experience with the Treez Point of Sale (POS) system is highly preferred but not required. Candidates with experience using other cannabis retail POS systems are encouraged to apply.

Duties

• Oversee daily dispensary operations while maintaining compliance with Illinois cannabis laws and regulations.
• Ensure adherence to Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) requirements and company standard operating procedures.
• Lead, supervise, train, and support budtenders to maintain operational efficiency and exceptional customer service.
• Manage opening and closing procedures, cash handling, register reconciliation, and daily sales reporting.
• Ensure proper customer identification verification, transaction accuracy, and adherence to legal purchasing limits.
• Assist with inventory management, product receiving, inventory audits, and METRC tracking and reconciliation.
• Identify, document, and report inventory discrepancies, compliance concerns, and operational issues.
• Support management during regulatory inspections and maintain accurate compliance documentation.
• Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, feedback, and guidance.
• Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally while maintaining a welcoming retail environment.
• Coordinate with management to implement operational improvements and strengthen team performance.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, security, and overall dispensary presentation.

Requirements

• Previous experience working in an Illinois licensed cannabis dispensary is required.
• Strong knowledge of Illinois cannabis regulations, IDFPR requirements, and dispensary compliance procedures is required.
• Understanding of cannabis retail operations, product handling, inventory controls, and security procedures.
• Strong leadership abilities with experience guiding, training, or supporting employees.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and make responsible decisions in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Strong attention to detail, especially regarding inventory accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to maintain professionalism, accountability, and confidentiality.
• Must meet all applicable Illinois cannabis dispensary agent eligibility and credentialing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Agent in Charge, shift supervisor, assistant manager, or dispensary manager.
• Experience with Treez POS is highly preferred but not required.
• Experience using METRC for cannabis inventory tracking and reconciliation.
• Familiarity with other cannabis retail POS systems, including Dutchie or Blaze.
• Experience assisting with IDFPR inspections or regulatory audits.
• Strong knowledge of cannabis products, including flower, concentrates, edibles, vapes, and topicals.
• Experience training employees and implementing standard operating procedures.
• Multilingual communication skills are a plus.
