AGM - Stores

Job Summary:

The AGM – Stores is completely responsible for leading the storage yards, raw material handling, and engineering warehouses of the Sponge Iron (DRI) plant. The core focus of this role is to ensure uninterrupted feed to the Rotary Kilns by maintaining strict inventory controls over bulk materials (Iron Ore, Coal, Dolomite), managing high-value kiln/cooler mechanical components, and aggressively preventing material degradation and inventory discrepancies common in heavy metal manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Bulk Yard & Raw Material Management: Oversee the strategic stocking, pile layout, and weighbridge tracking for massive volumes of Iron Ore Lumps/Pellets, Non-coking Coal, and Dolomite.
• Kiln & Cooler Spares Management: Manage inventory, cataloging, and precise storage of specialized DRI spares including refractory bricks, castables, kiln shells, tyres, girth gears, support rollers, slip-ring motors, and cooler transition chutes.
• Spontaneous Combustion & Fire Mitigation: Implement strict monitoring protocols for Coal stockpiles to detect and prevent hot spots and spontaneous combustion, minimizing material loss.
• Moisture & Yield Tracking: Partner with the Quality Control (QC) lab to track moisture changes in incoming Coal and Iron Ore, calculating exact dry weight adjustments in the ERP system.
• Dust & Environmental Protection: Enforce protective storage measures to shield critical electrical panels, Instrumentation spares, and hydraulic systems from the heavy, pervasive char and iron dust environment of the DRI plant.
• Product & Waste Reconciliation: Manage the storage and dispatch documentation for the finished product (Sponge Iron / DRI Lumps and Fines) alongside plant by-products and waste like char, dross, and kiln accretions.

Knowledge

• DRI Plant Metallurgy & Spares: Deep technical understanding of the lifecycles, storage norms, and shelf lives of refractories, high-temperature casting alloys, and kiln insulation materials.
• Bulk Handling Dynamics: Thorough knowledge of bulk material densities, angle of repose, pile volume estimation techniques, and safety hazards related to massive outdoor storage yards.
• Heavy Industry ERP Workflows: Comprehensive command over SAP MM / Oracle modules, specifically handling material movements (Goods Receipt, Goods Issue, Stock Transfers) and physical-to-book reconciliation.
• FIFO & Inventory Classification: Advanced knowledge of applying FIFO to raw materials and conducting ABC / VED analysis for critical insurance spares to avoid plant shutdowns.

Experience & Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Metallurgy preferred) OR a Graduate degree backed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Materials Management / Supply Chain.
• Work Experience: 8 to 12 years of total experience in industrial store operations, with a mandatory minimum of 4+ years of core experience inside a Sponge Iron (DRI) or Integrated Steel Plant.

Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
