What they need
Agronomy Data Scientist | aerialPLOT | Fargo, ND (On-site, Full-time)
We fly a lot of field trials. Small plots. Strip trials. Commercial grower trials. Across the US and Canada.
That means a lot of imagery, a lot of plot-level data, and a lot of clients asking the same question: did the product work?
We're hiring someone to help answer it properly.
What you'll do
- Build the models. Turn drone imagery and field data into digital phenotypes, growth curves, and treatment effect estimates that hold up to scrutiny. Spatial variability, mixed models, nonlinear fits, ML where it actually helps.
- Support client reviews. Sit in on trial readouts with seed companies, biologicals firms, and CROs. Explain what the data says, what it doesn't, and why. Plainly.
- Be the agronomy data science expert in the building. When agronomists, product, or engineering need a methodology checked or a question framed, you're the one they come to.
You'll also clean and structure datasets, build dashboards in our aerialFARMS platform, and help make our analytical workflows faster, more scalable, and more scientifically sound.
What we're looking for
- Master's or PhD preferred in Statistics, Data Science, Agronomy, Crop Science, Ag Engineering, or similar. Strong practical experience counts too.
- Real experience with experimental design and treatment effect analysis. You know why a significant p-value isn't the end of the conversation.
- Fluent in Python or R.
- Experience with agricultural or geospatial data. Remote sensing a plus.
- Comfortable with cloud platforms, databases, and Git.
- Can present to a room of PhDs in the morning and a grower in the afternoon. Adjust accordingly.
- Detail-oriented, skeptical in a useful way, and good on a team.
- Ag experience is an absolute must. Our knowledge runs deep. So should yours.
