AI & Automation Intern

We are looking for a curious, technically capable and solution-oriented AI & Automation Intern to explore, build and maintain AI-powered tools and automated workflows that improve how our teams work.

You will collaborate with different departments to understand their day-to-day processes, identify tasks that can be simplified, and turn those opportunities into working solutions using AI tools, automation platforms, APIs and scripting where appropriate.

This is a hands-on role. You will not be limited to researching AI tools or generating prompts. You will be expected to build prototypes, test their results, document how they work, collect feedback from users and improve the solutions based on actual requirements.

You should be comfortable learning new technologies independently, experimenting with different approaches and explaining your solutions to both technical and non-technical colleagues.

What you will do

• Identify automation opportunities: Work with Design, Development, Marketing and HR/Admin teams to understand their workflows and identify repetitive, time-consuming or error-prone tasks that could be improved through AI or automation.
• Build automated workflows: Create workflows that connect applications, process information, trigger actions and reduce unnecessary manual work.
• Implement AI-powered solutions: Use large language models and AI tools to support tasks such as information extraction, content classification, summarisation, drafting, data processing and internal knowledge retrieval.
• Work with automation platforms: Build and test workflows using tools such as n8n, Make, Zapier or similar platforms, selecting the most suitable option for each requirement.
• Integrate APIs and applications: Connect tools and services through APIs, webhooks and structured data formats where required. Understand how information moves between systems and handle errors appropriately.
• Support the Marketing department: Explore automation for content workflows, keyword research organisation, campaign reporting, lead management, content calendars and routine marketing data processing.
• Support the Development department: Assist with AI-assisted development workflows, code documentation, issue classification, testing support and internal developer productivity, under the guidance of experienced developers.
• Support the Design department: Explore workflows for creative briefing, asset organisation, design request management, content adaptation and other repetitive production tasks.
• Support HR and Administration: Help automate recruitment tracking, CV information extraction, interview scheduling workflows, attendance reporting, document preparation and routine internal reporting, subject to appropriate approval and data safeguards.
• Build internal productivity tools: Develop small utilities, forms, dashboards or scripts that make information easier to access and routine work easier to complete.
• Test and validate outputs: Check whether automated workflows produce accurate, consistent and useful results. Identify failure cases, improve prompts and logic, and add human approval steps wherever necessary.
• Maintain existing automations: Monitor workflows, investigate failures, fix issues, update integrations and keep documentation current as requirements change.
• Measure business impact: Record the time saved, manual steps removed, error rates reduced or other measurable improvements resulting from implemented solutions.
• Document and hand over solutions: Prepare clear workflow diagrams, setup instructions, configuration notes and user guides so the relevant team can operate the solution after implementation.
• Research emerging tools: Evaluate new AI models, automation platforms and integrations through small, controlled experiments before recommending their use.
• Follow security and privacy practices: Protect company information, credentials and client data. Use approved tools and ensure sensitive information is not entered into unauthorised AI platforms.

Technical expertise required

• AI tools and prompting: Familiarity with tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or similar AI assistants. You should know how to write structured prompts, test outputs and identify inaccuracies rather than accepting generated results without review.
• Workflow automation: Basic experience with at least one automation platform, such as n8n, Make or Zapier, or a strong willingness to learn one through practical projects.
• Problem-solving: Ability to break down a manual process into clear steps, identify dependencies and design a practical solution.
• APIs and webhooks: Basic understanding of APIs, HTTP requests, authentication, webhooks and how different applications exchange information.
• Data handling: Familiarity with JSON, CSV files, spreadsheets and structured data. You should be able to transform, validate and organise information.
• Programming fundamentals: Basic proficiency in Python or JavaScript for scripting, data processing, API integration or extending automation workflows.
• Logical thinking: Understanding of conditions, loops, variables, data mapping, error handling and basic debugging.
• Testing and troubleshooting: Ability to reproduce errors, test different inputs, identify failure points and verify that a workflow works as intended.
• Documentation: Ability to explain a workflow, its purpose, its limitations and how to use or troubleshoot it.
• Productivity tools: Confidence using spreadsheets, online documentation, project management tools and common workplace applications.

You do not need to be an expert in every technology listed. We value candidates who understand the fundamentals, can demonstrate what they have built and learn new tools quickly.

What you bring

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or a related field, or currently enrolled in a relevant programme.
• A genuine interest in applying AI and automation to real business problems.
• Experience with at least one practical project involving AI tools, workflow automation, scripting, APIs or application integration.
• The ability to research unfamiliar tools, follow technical documentation and work through problems independently.
• A practical mindset: you look for solutions that work reliably rather than choosing tools simply because they are popular.
• Attention to detail when testing outputs, handling data and reviewing automated actions.
• Good communication skills and the confidence to ask questions, understand user requirements and explain technical concepts in simple language.
• The ability to manage multiple small tasks, communicate progress and raise blockers early.
• A willingness to accept feedback, improve your work and take responsibility for assigned tasks.

Strong advantages (not required)

• Hands-on experience building workflows in n8n, Make, Zapier or similar platforms.
• Experience using AI APIs, including OpenAI, Anthropic or Google AI services.
• Familiarity with Python libraries for data processing, web requests or automation.
• Experience integrating Google Sheets, Google Drive, email, forms, CRMs or project management tools.
• Understanding of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, vector databases or AI agents.
• Experience with Git, version control, environment variables and basic software development practices.
• Familiarity with databases, SQL, web technologies or basic dashboard development.
• A portfolio, GitHub repository or demonstration of an automation or AI-powered project you have built.
