AI & Machine Learning Engineer

Role Purpose:

Design, validate, deploy, and improve explainable AI and analytical models that transform mobility signals into Driver Intelligence, safety, efficiency, insurance, customer, and location insights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and improve Driver Score, Safety Score, Smooth Ride Score, Eco Score, readiness, accident-risk, and driver-behavior models.
• Create robust feature engineering for speeding, harsh braking, harsh acceleration, harsh cornering, route deviation, idling, distraction, fatigue, punctuality, and other supported events.
• Normalize behavior by exposure such as distance, trip duration, route type, vehicle type, time of day, and data-quality grade to support fair comparison.
• Build explainable score components, event timelines, risk factors, coaching recommendations, improvement plans, and before-after performance measurement.
• Assess whether available data frequency, fields, coverage, and sample size are sufficient for each proposed model and communicate limitations clearly.
• Develop analytical models for Pay How You Drive, Usage-Based Insurance, claims-risk segmentation, traffic and route risk, anomaly detection, and customer personalization.
• Support consumer and OEM opportunities such as white-label insurance applications, T-Connect Driver Score and Coaching, rewards, and customer analytics.
• Establish model-development standards covering training, validation, bias, explainability, privacy, reproducibility, version control, approval, monitoring, drift, and retraining.
• Deploy models through APIs, batch pipelines, containers, or managed services and work with engineering teams to meet latency and reliability requirements.
• Design pilot measurements and success metrics, including unsafe events per 100 km, score change, data completeness, model precision, and coaching impact.
• Document assumptions, methodology, limitations, and model cards for customer, audit, security, and management review.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline; a master's degree is advantageous.
• At least 5 years of experience in applied machine learning, data science, predictive analytics, or AI product development.
• Strong Python, statistics, feature engineering, model evaluation, and data-preprocessing capability.
• Hands-on experience with supervised learning, classification, regression, anomaly detection, time-series, or geospatial modeling.
• Experience deploying and monitoring models in a production environment.
• Strong ability to explain technical methods and limitations to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with mobility, GPS, telematics, IoT, insurance, vehicle, logistics, or behavioral data.
• Experience with XGBoost, LightGBM, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLflow, SageMaker, or equivalent platforms.
• Experience with explainable AI, fairness, privacy-preserving analytics, causal measurement, or experimentation.
• Familiarity with MLOps, feature stores, containers, APIs, dashboards, and cloud cost optimization.
• Experience developing coaching, recommendation, reward, or customer-personalization models.
