AI Data Centre Installation Supervisor / Foreman

About the opportunity

Lead onsite delivery for a major AI and high-performance computing infrastructure programme, working across GPU, high-density compute and advanced data centre environments.

We’re looking for experienced Data Centre Installation Supervisors / Foremen to lead installation teams across a major programme in north-west Auckland, with opportunities available across both day shift and night shift (11pm–7am).

This is not a technician role. You’ll be the person bringing the installation together on the data centre floor, leading technicians and subcontractors, coordinating with engineering and facilities teams, managing site priorities and making informed decisions when changes in one area impact the wider build.

You’ll be involved across the full installation lifecycle, from site readiness and equipment delivery through rack deployment, cabling, power and cooling integration, testing, commissioning and final customer handover.

What you’ll do

• Lead onsite technicians, subcontractors and specialist installation crews
• Organise daily work, schedules, safety briefings, site access and installation priorities
• Assess site readiness across power, cooling, space, access and infrastructure dependencies
• Coordinate deliveries, staging and logistics for racks, servers, switches, cabling and associated equipment
• Verify delivered hardware against the bill of materials and identify issues before installation
• Oversee rack positioning, levelling and installation of servers, switches, PDUs and associated infrastructure
• Oversee structured cabling, cable management, labelling, grounding and bonding against technical specifications
• Coordinate power, cooling, connectivity and Building Management System requirements with engineering and facilities teams
• Read and work from rack elevations, network maps, cabling diagrams and installation specifications
• Identify installation risks, resolve onsite issues and make decisions to keep delivery moving
• Coordinate multiple vendors, technical teams and workstreams operating onsite at the same time
• Monitor installation quality and ensure work meets engineering, safety and customer requirements
• Support initial power-up, testing, commissioning and burn-in activities
• Track progress and maintain installation and quality records
• Own as-built documentation, QA checks and completion reporting through to customer sign-off and handover

What we’re looking for

Previous experience leading data centre installation or fit-out teams is essential.

You’ll need to be comfortable taking ownership onsite rather than simply escalating every technical or delivery decision.

We’re particularly interested in people with:

• Strong experience supervising data centre installation, fit-out or infrastructure deployment teams
• Direct responsibility for technicians, subcontractors or specialist installation crews
• Extensive experience across large-scale data centre, HPC or AI infrastructure deployments
• Strong practical knowledge of rack-and-stack, structured cabling, cable management, power, cooling and grounding
• Experience with GPU / AI infrastructure, including NVIDIA environments, highly regarded
• Knowledge of AI/HPC-specific or high-density modular data centre environments highly regarded
• Understanding of installation into both existing/live data centres and new-build environments
• Experience supporting commissioning of site infrastructure, including power and cooling
• The ability to understand how changes or issues in one part of the installation can impact other systems and make sound decisions accordingly
• The ability to interpret rack elevations, network drawings, cabling diagrams and installation specifications
• Experience coordinating multiple teams, vendors and workstreams simultaneously
• Strong site safety, installation quality and documentation disciplines
• Clear communication skills and the confidence to give direction onsite and communicate effectively with engineers, project teams, customers and senior stakeholders
