Role Overview

This organization is seeking an AI Data Protection Associate Director. This role is a technical leader responsible for designing, building, and maintaining AI-focused data protection controls. This position will help define the data protection for AI controls, focusing on operational and content engineering aspects to prevent sensitive data exfiltration through GenAI tools, AI systems, and agentic workflows. The role combines technical expertise with cross-functional leadership to govern AI data protection controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure AI proxy-type platforms from a data protection control perspective, including prompt and output inspection rules.
• Build and maintain the DLP rule estate for GenAI and AI agent channels, ensuring policies are enforceable and testable.
• Define and document AI control rules, including sensitive data categories, detection approaches, and enforcement actions.
• Translate the organization's data protection strategy into actionable technical rules and policies.
• Continuously tune rules using telemetry to reduce false positives and improve signal quality.
• Partner with Operations teams to close detection gaps and improve response quality.
• Ensure AI channel controls align with the organization’s classification and labeling approach.
• Maintain clear documentation of AI policies, rule changes, and testing outcomes.
• Support acceptance testing, change management, and evidence packages for audit reviews.

Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

Experience: 5–8+ years of experience in data protection, DLP, and/or security control engineering. Financial Services or regulated industry experience is required. Demonstrated hands-on experience building and tuning DLP policies or detection content in enterprise environments is necessary.

Technical Skills: Familiarity with security risks and controls related to AI and LLMs. Experience configuring or engineering controls for Cloud and AI channels. A strong understanding of data classification concepts is needed, along with strong written documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSP certification
• OSWE (Offensive Security Web Expert) certification
• OSWA (Offensive Security Web Assessor) certification
• Experience with Pen Tester Lab environments
• Certified Practitioner or Certified Web Exploitation credentials
