AI Engineer (AWS SAA Certified)

About the role

Pepper Labs is seeking an AI Engineer (AWS SAA Certified) to join our innovative team in Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position where you will play a crucial role in developing, deploying, and optimising artificial intelligence solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. As an AI Engineer, you will bridge the gap between cutting-edge machine learning research and production-ready systems, leveraging your AWS expertise to architect scalable, secure, and cost-effective AI applications. Your contribution will be fundamental to delivering intelligent solutions that drive business value and competitive advantage for our clients and organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop AI and machine learning models using Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and other industry-standard frameworks
• Deploy machine learning models to AWS services including SageMaker, Lambda, and EC2, ensuring optimal performance and scalability
• Architect AWS cloud solutions for AI workloads, leveraging services such as AWS SageMaker, AWS Rekognition, AWS Textract, and AWS Forecast
• Develop data pipelines and ETL processes to prepare and process large datasets for model training and inference
• Optimise AI models for cost-efficiency and performance on AWS infrastructure, implementing best practices for security and compliance
• Conduct model experimentation and evaluation, tracking metrics and results to inform continuous improvement
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Document code, architecture decisions, and deployment procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability
• Monitor and troubleshoot deployed AI systems, implementing improvements based on performance metrics and user feedback
• Stay current with emerging AI/ML technologies and AWS service updates, incorporating relevant innovations into our solutions

What we're looking for

• AWS Solutions Architect Associate (SAA) certification or equivalent AWS certification demonstrating cloud architecture knowledge
• Strong programming skills in Python with experience in software development best practices and design patterns
• Hands-on experience building, training, and deploying machine learning models in production environments
• Proficiency with AWS services, particularly SageMaker, Lambda, S3, EC2, RDS, and other relevant AI/ML services
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or similar tools
• Knowledge of containerisation technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
• Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git, and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
• Preferred: Experience with deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, or reinforcement learning
• Preferred: Previous experience in deploying AI models to production environments and managing ML lifecycle
• Preferred: Knowledge of MLOps practices and tools for model monitoring and management
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
