AI Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an AI Engineer to build production AI agents and enhance the platform capabilities that support them. The role combines hands-on agent engineering with broader backend and platform delivery, from understanding customer needs through implementation, evaluation, release, and operational improvement. You will be a T-shaped team member, working directly with customers, Business Analysts, QA engineers, and software engineers to turn business workflows into dependable agent behaviour and scalable product features.

Qualification:

• Ability to design and build non-deterministic AI agents that reliably achieve business outcomes across varied inputs, contexts, and multi-turn interactions.
• Strong understanding of agent architecture, including instructions, context management, structured outputs, retrieval and grounding, tool selection and execution, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Experience integrating agents with APIs, enterprise data, identity, and external systems while handling failures, retries, idempotency, and partial outcomes.
• Ability to design agent evaluations using representative datasets, deterministic checks, model-based grading, quality thresholds, and regression analysis.
• Practical understanding of AI safety, security, privacy, access control, prompt injection risks, auditability, and responsible handling of sensitive data.
• Ability to diagnose agent behaviour using conversation history, execution trajectories, logs, traces, metrics, and evaluation evidence.
• Strong software-engineering experience building maintainable APIs, services, data integrations, and distributed workflows.
• Ability to contribute to platform feature enhancements beyond agent logic, including backend services, persistence, authentication and authorization, observability, and operator-facing capabilities.
• Strong automated-testing practices across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end layers, including testing probabilistic behaviour without relying only on exact-match assertions.
• Experience with CI/CD, code review, production support, performance and cost optimisation, and incremental delivery of secure cloud-hosted software.
• Experience working with customers and Business Analysts to translate business needs, domain rules, risks, and edge cases into implementable agent scenarios and acceptance criteria.
• Clear communication, pragmatic technical judgement, and ownership from discovery through production operation.

Preferred Qualification:

• Microsoft Agent Framework, Microsoft Foundry, Foundry evaluations, and Azure-hosted agent capabilities.

• C#/.NET, ASP.NET Core, xUnit, and REST/OpenAPI services.

• TypeScript, Next.js, React, and modern frontend integration.

• PostgreSQL, Azure Cosmos DB, Docker, and Testcontainers.

• Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, GitHub Actions, Nx, Application Insights, and OpenTelemetry.
