What they need

The AI Engineer designs, delivers and supports AI solutions that create measurable business value. Working within established architecture and engineering standards, the role applies machine learning, computer vision, generative AI and multimodal techniques to operational use cases. The role reports to the IT Director for performance management and resourcing, takes technical direction from the Senior AI Engineer, and guides junior engineers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver AI solutions end-to-end, from use-case definition and data assessment through development, validation, deployment and monitoring.
  • Build and improve machine-learning, deep-learning and computer-vision models for image, time-series and process-control use cases.
  • Develop generative AI and multimodal capabilities using approved approaches to prompting, RAG, tool use, guardrails and human oversight.
  • Evaluate model quality, analyse errors and improve performance using defined metrics and human feedback.
  • Work with stakeholders and domain experts to define features, labels, acceptance criteria and workflows.
  • Address accuracy, explainability, bias, privacy, security and operational risks; monitor production performance, cost, adoption and business impact.
  • Contribute reusable datasets, tools and documentation, guide junior engineers, and escalate novel or cross-system challenges to the Senior AI Engineer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field. A relevant Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 4–6 years’ experience delivering ML, deep-learning or computer-vision solutions into operational use.
  • Strong Python and software-engineering skills, including testing, version control and deployment.
  • Practical experience with image processing and segmentation using OpenCV or comparable tools.
  • Experience with generative AI and multimodal systems, including prompting, RAG and vision-language models.
  • Experience with time-series anomaly detection or predictive analytics is highly valued.
  • Sound understanding of model evaluation, data quality, bias, explainability and monitoring.
  • Ability to explain AI capabilities, limitations and trade-offs to technical and business stakeholders.

We offer a 5-day working week, a competitive remuneration package and generous fringe benefits. Excellent on-the-job training and development will also be provided.

To apply, please submit your detailed resume, stating your expected salary and availability, to the Human Capital Management Department. Kindly note that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
