AI Engineer

About the role

Estek Automation Sdn Bhd is seeking an AI Engineer to join our growing team in Batu Kawan, Penang. This is a full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to apply artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to optimise manufacturing, assembly and process work operations. As an AI Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing intelligent solutions that enhance automation, improve efficiency and drive innovation across our manufacturing and logistics operations. Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy machine learning models and AI solutions tailored to assembly and process optimisation challenges
• Collaborate with manufacturing and process teams to identify opportunities for automation and performance improvement using AI technologies
• Conduct data analysis and statistical modelling to support process optimisation and predictive maintenance initiatives
• Develop algorithms for quality control, defect detection and real-time monitoring within manufacturing environments
• Integrate AI systems with existing manufacturing equipment, control systems and industrial IoT platforms
• Test, validate and continuously refine AI models to ensure accuracy, reliability and scalability in production environments
• Document technical specifications, system architectures and implementation protocols for AI solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including process engineers, automation specialists and product managers to ensure AI solutions meet operational requirements
• Stay current with advancements in AI, machine learning and automation technologies relevant to manufacturing and logistics
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to AI system performance and integration

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline; Master's degree is advantageous
• Proven experience developing and deploying machine learning models and AI applications in production environments
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++ or similar; experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn or Keras
• Solid understanding of data engineering, data preprocessing and feature engineering techniques
• Experience with industrial automation, IoT (Internet of Things) or manufacturing systems is highly desirable
• Knowledge of process optimisation, predictive maintenance or quality control applications in manufacturing
• Familiarity with cloud platforms for AI deployment (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex manufacturing challenges into AI-driven solutions
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality, reliability and continuous improvement
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and agile development methodologies
