AI into SDLC - Software Engineering Enablement Lead – Contract

Predominantly Remote - occasional London/Bristol travel

I’m working with a large energy organisation that is looking for a senior engineering professional to help accelerate the adoption of AI across its software engineering teams. The focus of the role is embedding advanced AI-assisted development practices across the SDLC/PDLC, with a particular focus on Claude Code. This isn’t a traditional AI/ML Engineering role. We’re looking for someone with a strong Software Engineering background who has gone beyond simply using AI coding tools personally and has experience rolling out and embedding them across engineering teams.

Key experience:

• Advanced hands-on experience with Claude Code
• Experience rolling out AI-assisted/agentic engineering practices across software engineering teams
• Advanced Claude Code workflows including agents, skills, MCP, context/instruction management and automation
• Strong understanding of Agile SDLC/PDLC and how AI can be embedded across planning, development, testing, code review and CI/CD
• Principal/Staff/Lead Software Engineering or Engineering Leadership background
• Experience coaching and enabling engineers to adopt new ways of working
• Creating engineering standards, playbooks, governance and best practices around AI-assisted development
• Ability to work with senior engineering stakeholders and drive adoption at team/organisational level
