About the job

Kintow is an AI-powered back office for restaurants. We handle inventory, vendor ordering, invoice processing, and recipe costing for independent restaurant and café groups, and we are live with some of the most admired fast casual restaurants and cafés in the country. We are backed by a16z Speedrun, Dria Ventures, and Team Ignite. We are a small but mighty team and have built and shipped at Uber, Amazon, Blank Street, and Amplitude.

What we believe

Restaurants run on work that happens behind a computer. Someone counts inventory and types it into a spreadsheet. Someone corrects the invoice when the vendor bills the wrong price. Someone categorizes every transaction at the end of the month and reconciles accounts nobody has looked at since.

Almost all of that work is still done by hand, both inside restaurants and at the firms that serve them.

The same tools that let us improve inventory management apply directly to bookkeeping. In the same way inventory required hours of reviewing invoices and building recipes, accounting requires hours of categorizing transactions and reconciling accounts. We believe AI can automate most of that work. We are hiring our first accountant to start building it.

What you will do

Early on you will do the accounting work yourself, closing books, categorizing transactions, and reconciling accounts. That is intentional. We want to automate a process we have watched a good accountant actually run.

From there our engineering team works with you to take the repetitive parts off your plate. You tell us what you do fifty times a month, we build it, and you review and sign off on what it produces. Over time the mechanical work moves to the system and your time goes to the parts that need an accountant. That is the accounting function we want to build.

You will:

• Own the books for our customers, including accuracy and sign-off
• Define the chart of accounts, categorization rules, close checklists, and controls the system runs on
• Work with engineering to turn your process into product, and tell us when what we built is wrong
• Build a close process that can support hundreds of locations
• Talk to operators about what their numbers mean
• Hire and lead the accountants who come after you

Who we are looking for

• Restaurant or hospitality accounting experience. You have closed books for multi-unit operators and know prime cost, weekly periods, tip credits, comps and voids, vendor credits, and inventory adjustments at close
• Strong at the craft. This is a senior role
• Already using AI in your own work, or ready to
• Willing to do the work directly early on
• Comfortable being the first accountant here
• CPA is welcome but not required

Details

• Full-time
• Remote within the US, Atlanta preferred
• $80,000 to $120,000 depending on experience, plus meaningful early equity
