What they need

We are Progress (Nasdaq: PRGS) - the trusted provider of software that enables our customers to develop, deploy and manage responsible, AI-powered applications and experiences with agility and ease. We’re proud to have a diverse, global team where we value the individual and enrich our culture by considering varied perspectives because we believe people power progress. Join us as an AI-Native Builder (Specialization in Security) in our Engineering team and help us do what we do best: propelling business forward.

This role blends software engineering with product security, using AI as the default execution model. You will serve as the Security Champion for a product line, owning security issues end-to-end from investigation through validation and remediation. You will improve the product and the engineering systems, architectural guardrails, and AI-assisted workflows that enable secure software development at scale.

In this role you will:

  • Serve as the Security Champion for an integrated product line and own security issues end-to-end
  • Investigate, reproduce, prioritize, and validate vulnerabilities from customers, tooling, pen tests, and researchers
  • Analyze complex codebases to identify root causes, validate strategies, and implement security fixes where appropriate
  • Coordinate broader engineering changes when remediations span multiple components or teams
  • Partner with Architects to strengthen secure design patterns, standards, and architectural guardrails
  • Build internal tools, deterministic automation, and AI-assisted workflows for triage, remediation, testing, and validation
  • Coach teams on secure development practices and embed AI-led security into everyday workflows
  • Lead remediation planning using exploitability and risk-based decision making
  • Support customer security reviews, vulnerability disclosure, and coordinated remediation activities
  • Communicate complex findings clearly to engineers, product managers, leaders, customers, and researchers
  • Continuously improve engineering systems and practices that enable secure software development

Your background:

  • Strong software engineering experience in Go, Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and debug complex production code and systems
  • Experience investigating, prioritizing, and validating application security vulnerabilities
  • Knowledge of secure software development, secure application architecture, and threat modeling
  • Understanding of OWASP, CWE, CVSS, exploitability analysis, and risk-based remediation
  • Experience using AI to accelerate investigations and secure software development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to influence technical decisions and build consensus
  • Collaborative mindset with a passion for improving engineering practices and helping other engineers succeed

It will be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience serving as a Security Champion or technical security lead
  • Hands-on experience with SAST, DAST, SCA, dependency analysis, or container security tooling
  • Experience coordinating penetration tests or vulnerability disclosure programs
  • Familiarity with OWASP SAMM or similar secure software development maturity models
  • Experience building internal engineering tools or AI-assisted engineering workflows and supporting customer security reviews

If this sounds like you and fits your experience and career goals, we’d be happy to chat.

What we offer in return is the opportunity to experience a great company culture with wonderful colleagues to learn from and collaborate with and also to enjoy:
