AI Software Engineer

Context

Fakto is building a Cost Intelligence platform that helps large companies understand and control their supplier spend. The platform uses AI agents to analyze supplier relationships, enforce agreements, and assist in purchasing decisions by identifying gaps between negotiated and actual payments. Fakto is live with large enterprises and has raised a $4.2M seed round led by Frst. The company was founded by Nicolas (CEO, ex-BCG), Charles (CTO, ex-Qonto, Datadog), and Benjamin (CRO, ex-Celonis). The team is fast-growing, based in Paris, and values a healthy, ambitious, and international culture.

Missions

• Co-own the technical and product strategy, including decisions on what to build, standardize, and the architecture roadmap.

• Translate client feedback and challenges (e.g., messy contracts, opaque billing) into product improvements and abstractions.

• Build AI agents that read enterprise documents, reason across contracts and invoices, surface insights, and act within client systems.

• Stay at the forefront of AI developments, including models, tools, and agent frameworks, while focusing on customer needs.

• Adapt to evolving priorities, from hardening features before demos to prototyping new use cases.

• Collaborate closely with the founding team, including the CTO who codes alongside you.

Working Conditions

• Location: Paris, Les Sablons (Neuilly)

• Contract: Permanent

• Work mode: Hybrid (1-2 remote days per week)

• Salary: €70,000–€90,000 gross, depending on experience

Hiring Process

1. 30-minute introductory call with Charles (CTO).

2. Time-constrained technical exercise to be completed within approximately two hours from home.

3. Technical debrief call with Charles focusing on reasoning and decision-making.

4. In-person founders' fit conversations with Benjamin and Nicolas.

5. Offer and reference checks.

If at any point the fit is not right, Fakto commits to quick and honest communication and expects the same from candidates.

1. Strong in back-end development with serious experience in DevOps / SRE / infrastructure, including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability

2. Comfortable shipping code that uses LLMs or highly motivated to learn

3. Possess ownership instincts and proactive attitude towards deadlines and client needs

4. Good team fit: healthy disagreement, low ego, kindness, and ability to maintain a high bar without negativity

5. 4+ years of professional engineering experience is a strong bonus

6. Experience owning the model, data layer, and user exposure of a shipped product is a strong bonus

7. Experience working in a true startup environment with blurred roles between back-end, infra, and other tasks is a strong bonus

8. Some front-end experience (e.g., React) is a plus, but not required to specialize in

9. Grit and curiosity are valued over strict years of experience

10. Motivation to work with AI and build agents, even without prior AI role experience

11. One deep strength plus two genuine curiosities across back-end, infra, security, data, and front-end is sufficient
