AI Solution architect

Type: 6-month contract-to-hire, full time

We are looking for a visionary Engineering Leader to lead our solution and engineering teams in building innovative solutions.

About the role

You will own the end-to-end architecture of a next-generation configuration, pricing and quotation

platform, built from scratch. You set the technical direction and lead two AI Engineers.

What you will do

• Define the target architecture: service boundaries, API contracts, data model, security and

deployment.

• Design the platform's core capabilities across product configuration, pricing, quoting and

approvals.

• Design pricing capabilities that support a range of commercial models on a single quote.

• Bring AI into the platform's architecture and user experience.

• Lead and review the work of two AI Engineers; set coding, testing and CI/CD standards.

• Work with the client's product owner to turn priorities into an architecture roadmap and

backlog.

Required domain expertise (CPQ and quote-to-cash)

• 5+ years designing or building a CPQ product.

• Product catalog and bundle modeling: products, options, attributes, nested bundles, versioning

and effective dating.

• Configuration rules engines: compatibility, dependency and exclusion rules; guided selling.

• Pricing and monetization models: list and tiered pricing, discounting, subscription and usage-

based pricing, and margin guardrails.

• Quote lifecycle: versioning, multi-currency, approvals by discount, deal size and margin.

• Strong plus: experience with SaaS or cloud products sold on subscription and usage-based

models.

Required technical expertise

• 12+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years as an architect of distributed, cloud-native

systems.

• Microservices and API-first design: REST/GraphQL, event-driven architecture (Kafka or similar),

domain-driven design.

• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP), containers and Kubernetes, infrastructure as code.

• Modern front-end frameworks (React or similar).

• Applied AI and LLMs: agent design, tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation and

guardrails, with production experience on a frontier model API.

• Data modeling for transactional systems (PostgreSQL or similar) and multi-tenant SaaS.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field from an Ivy

League or comparable premier university (for example MIT, Stanford, Caltech, Carnegie Mellon,

UC Berkeley). A Masters or PhD is preferred.

What success looks like at 6 months

• Architecture and API contracts approved and documented.

• Core platform capabilities running end to end.
