Swoon is partnering with a major financial services organization to bring on an experienced Solution Architect supporting cloud architecture, enterprise integration, and emerging AI initiatives within its Wealth Management division.
This is an opportunity for an architect who enjoys working at the intersection of AWS, enterprise systems, and modern AI technologies. The team is focused on designing scalable solutions that can support increasingly intelligent financial services applications, from traditional cloud-native platforms to generative AI and agent-driven workflows.
While AI experience would be valuable, the team is equally interested in established Solution Architects with strong AWS architecture backgrounds who can bring the technical judgment, design experience, and leadership needed to support complex enterprise initiatives.
What you'll get to work on:
- Design and develop enterprise solutions on AWS, leveraging services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, Athena, Glue, Redshift, and other cloud-native technologies.
- Support the architecture of generative AI and agentic AI solutions, including potential applications involving intelligent assistants, automated workflows, and enterprise knowledge systems.
- Evaluate architectural approaches for integrating LLMs and foundation models into enterprise applications, including platforms such as AWS Bedrock and SageMaker.
- Contribute to the design of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions, vector search capabilities, and AI orchestration frameworks where applicable.
- Design scalable, API-driven and event-driven architectures that integrate with existing enterprise systems and data environments.
- Consider security, governance, monitoring, and responsible AI practices as part of broader solution design.
- Partner with technical teams and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical architecture decisions and implementation strategies.
- Provide architectural direction across cloud infrastructure, application integration, data flows, and emerging technology initiatives.
You'll be a strong fit if you have:
- Previous hands-on experience working as a Solution Architect , with ownership of enterprise-level solution designs and architecture decisions. This is a core requirement.
- Strong AWS cloud architecture experience , including designing scalable, secure, and integrated solutions using AWS services.
- A solid understanding of enterprise architecture principles, microservices, API integrations, event-driven systems, and distributed application design.
- Experience translating business and technical requirements into solution architectures that engineering teams can implement.
- The ability to evaluate architectural tradeoffs, communicate design decisions, and work effectively with both technical stakeholders and business partners.
- Exposure to modern data architecture, cloud data platforms, or enterprise data integration.
Experience that would be particularly valuable:
The team is especially interested in architects who have worked with generative AI, LLMs, or agentic AI technologies in an enterprise environment.
Relevant experience might include designing advisor copilots, RAG-based knowledge systems, document intelligence solutions, conversational AI applications, or agent-driven workflows.
Familiarity with technologies such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, OpenSearch, Pinecone, or other vector search and AI orchestration tools would be beneficial.
Experience within banking, wealth management, investment services, or financial advisory environments is also a plus.
A few important distinctions:
This is a Solution Architecture role first , rather than a position focused exclusively on machine learning development or model training. The team needs someone who has already operated in an architecture capacity and can think across AWS infrastructure, application design, enterprise integrations, and emerging AI capabilities.
You do not need to have worked with every AI framework or AWS service listed above. Strong foundational architecture experience is the priority, with AI and financial services experience helping differentiate candidates.
Additional details:
- U.S.-based candidates only.
- The initial engagement is expected to run for 12 months, with potential extension up to 24 months.
- The team is open to exploring contract-to-hire for the right candidate.
- Chicago and Naperville office locations are available for candidates interested in a hybrid arrangement.
If you've been working in AWS solution architecture and are interested in applying that experience to enterprise AI initiatives within financial services, we encourage you to apply.
